SPRING FLOWERS USING MACRO-PHOTOGRAPHY

Greetings all. I have been enjoyed some wonderful sunny weather after a long Winter and rainy Spring. I am past most of the major stressors that I have been going through and can get back to my gardening (vegetables. flowers, etc). With that comes time for photography. I have mentioned I was experimenting with Macro-photography. I have had a macro lens but had not taken the time to try it or find out what it could do for me. I have had the opportunity to see some of my followers work using a macro lens and have been impressed.

I did not have time this year to start all my flowers from seed in my greenhouse so went to a local greenhouse to bring home some starter plants. This first photo is a Petunia variety I had never seen before. Judging from this one I cannot wait until they are all in full bloom:

Next up is a tray of Sweet Alyssum that I will move to a large pot hopefully today:

I also picked up some Coleus for potting and growing outside, as well as having one as a houseplant. I forgot how lovely these can be:

I was able to capture this tulip before it went past it's prime:

This next was my first try at using the macro lens...I love dandelions they are a very misunderstood plant. First the leaves are highly nutritious, they are one of the first flowers in bloom for the first bees that come out early in the Spring, they are really beautiful, and finally I use dandelion in a migraine headache remedy that I have made for years (we use it for most headaches):

Here is a nice capture of one of my Siberian Irises. They are earlier than other Irises, and they only get to a heighth of around 6 to 8 inches (15.24 to 20.32 centimeters). I started with one root and have been dividing and spreading it throughout my flower garden to add color before some of my other plants bloom.

Then to close out my macro photos I could not pass up this Viola. They seem to grow everywhere, even in my pasture. I have never planted them. They just showed up when I first bought my house and when I started working on my flower garden:

I was quite excited when I saw my first results of using my macro lens. Now it will be a big part of my photography of flowers.

I am going to grow the flowers in containers. I have too many perennials in my flower garden and do not want to overcrowd them. In containers I can better see them and of course show them better. Glad you enjoyed.

When I work with my flowers today my thoughts will go to my mother who passed on a few years ago. She and my fathers were farmers, gardeners and they both loved flowers. Happy Mother's Day.

My wife is improving and getting stronger. She is more active taking walks which will help even more. Taking these photos and working in my garden, greenhouse, and flower bed helps me in my own healing from the exhaustion. We are all adjusting to Annie passing...I was glad I was there for her to help her into transition into the afterlife.

wow you are a great photographer and your photography is really amazing. Every photo you shot is speaking by it,s own without any definition.

The beauty of these awesome flowers can't be explained in words as they are just amazing!! Especially the first one got my attention and I was just surprised to see such a super piece of nature! Sorry about your Migraines...Nasty! My wife had suffered from them for years. She did have medication but had a terrible reaction to the meds which left her aphasiac (Partial or total loss of the ability to articulate ideas or comprehend spoken or written language). I was trying to talk to her on the phone as I was driving home from work. She had just recently been in a comma so I thought it was related. In a panic I got home and got her to ER...It turned out to be the medication. I had already been studying herbology and decided to see what I could make that would help her. A lot of research and trials and I found a mix that helped if taken at the first sign. Interesting thing is that in a short period of time she no longer had migraines. My daughter suffered from them too and she used it with success...a few years later I happen to think about it and asked her, and she said she had forgotten because she no longer had migraines. My granddaughter tried it and she says periodically she will have a minor one and if she takes the herbal remedy it goes away. My whole family uses it for regular headaches too. It does not seem to help much with sinus headaches. probably more information than you needed...

All is lovely. I remember the third plant. We have lots of those when we were young in the philippines. Flowers and plants can have an uplifting spirit when you add them for indoor or outdoor. Thanks for sharing.

Friends, you have done very nice photography. You constantly and amazing photography that makes me really amazed that I think you are a great photographer and you can pick up each picture very nicely.

I usually use the Canon brand cameras for photography because if a good brand camera is used and the camera functions are used properly and photographs are taken with the proper presence of the lens then these pictures are very beautiful quality. I think that the pictures taken are really very Excellent and I think you are a great photographer.

All the seasons have their own charms. I think the spring is the most suitable season for macro photography. Your photography is absolutely wonderful.

Thank you. Using a Macro-lens and taking multiple photos of the same flower, slightly changing the focus, so I have a few photos of the same thing and choose the best....

Thank you! I planted some of my petunias and Sweet Alyssum into some large containers for my wife on Mother's Day. Another petunia that I had never seen before bloomed this morning. I will take some photos as they start filling in the containers.
