Greetings, Community,

Wishing everyone a week filled with blessings worldwide. I hope you are all well, healthy, and safe with your families.

Like every Venezuelan, I have not been immune to the situations we have experienced step by step over the years. Not everyone chose to leave the country, of course, and everyone has their own story regarding this.

The electricity issue truly affects us deeply; it isn't just a matter of a single day a month for system maintenance. It has been a constant, day in and day out—without warning—depending on the schedule set by those with the power to cut the supply for hours at a time (often more than five hours), whether in the morning, afternoon, or night. Just when we think we’ve made it through a day unscathed—think again: a power outage.

That is how the last few months have gone. It is maddening for some, while others have devised ways to tackle the problem at home using technology that provides enough electricity to keep things running. It is undeniable that we often feel paralyzed; the situation is dire for work activities that rely heavily on this service, especially when there aren't the financial means to acquire equipment to mitigate the impact. Others of us try to find ways to keep moving so the lack of electricity doesn't bring us to a standstill. You might leave the house to run errands, only to return and find the power out—thinking, "I came back to do this and that, but now... when will I get it done?"

When it happens in the late afternoon or evening—after I’ve finished my daily tasks and am settling in to watch a movie or update things online—the only option left is to take a deep breath, find rechargeable light bulbs and chairs, and head out to the porch for some fresh air. On those nights, I find myself admiring the sky—the stars, when they are visible, the appearance of the full moon, and the shifting sky that reveals it. The sky was filled with clouds that shifted color by the moment; the large cloud formations would break apart and drift—such was the rhythm of those nights. Indeed, we had to observe our surroundings, though the uncertainty of when the power might suddenly cut out weighed on us; each person reacted according to their own mindset and feelings, and the situation left much to be desired. Compounding this was the issue of water supply: the water would start to flow, and—*snap*—the power would go out, leaving us waiting hours for the water to return. All of this added to the anxiety.

As for well-being, some found solace in admiring the nature the night offered—even watching heavy rains—or, during the day, picking up a book to read; I would turn the pages of the book I kept close at hand.

For others, it was a source of anxiety, because—as I mentioned earlier—everyone has their own schedule for work, caring for family members, or tending to the sick or other needs. No matter how sound one’s mental health might be, that sense of well-being felt somewhat fractured.

Nowadays—in the present moment—we have been spared somewhat, yet the doubt lingers: how long will it last? We hope that the stability of these services continues, allowing us to go about our days as planned, carry out our activities, and maintain our health and well-being.
