I celebrated on both dates (Venezuela’s and Argentina’s), this year I only celebrated on one—the one where I live—which was last Sunday, more out of consideration for my children’s daily lives than out of any real desire to celebrate, since we don’t do anything in particular, and certainly not because that’s the day I’m busiest at work. My youngest son, who’s the most thoughtful, was disappointed that he didn’t have enough money to give me the gift he wanted, but with the little he managed to save up, I bought two things I’d been wanting to try, so I took the money and bought them—but not before emphasizing to him that a gift is a sign of love, not an obligation per se, and teaching him that when giving a gift, it’s always better to pay attention to what the other person wants or needs, rather than focusing on expensive items that might not interest the recipient. https://i.ecency.com/DQmW8TUxNQibcTngCuDww2U3weuesZep6PKY1s6LBd5QT17/5105176004556164373.jpg It might sound like I’m always lecturing my children, but I prefer to use situations that cause them conflict as examples and help them see things from a different perspective. That way, not only do they feel reassured, but they also learn to resolve dilemmas they might face in the future without falling into despair. Life really is simple, and anyone who tries to complicate it for you shouldn’t be in your life. Early in the morning, my oldest son and I left for my job; the younger one stayed home with the task of doing the housework. Up until then, I hadn’t received a single congratulatory message, but later on, the facts spoke for themselves. When we finished our shift, my son bought ravioli and cheese for lunch—which, although I prepared it myself, didn’t cost me any money. https://i.ecency.com/DQmde44vGJaiqKRpMyAQVbqMwmF3zSPh1RvNz6q5q7hZzus/5105176004556164369.jpg Back home, all the chores were done, so I just cooked a delicious lunch and then rested all afternoon—which was truly the best gift of all! And the chocolates shown in the photos in this post were a gift from my supervisor at work—they weren’t just for me, but a little treat to share at home: one a day for the kids as a snack and one for me as a daily token of appreciation for any extraordinary task I’d completed. https://i.ecency.com/DQmY8rVwyaYLTuZPdA8z5Pa2nLATHKQDhFhL6m3dyLz8v7F/5105176004556164376.jpg *** Foto/Photo by: @mamaemigrante Banner de portada: Cortesía de @palabras1 Edición/Edited by @mamaemigrante using canva Translated and formatted with [Deepl](https://www.deepl.com/es/translator)
