**ENGLISH** --- # Greetings to everyone... welcome to my blog. Today is International Breast Cancer Awareness Day, and I wanted to share this information through a series of photos from an event that Team Vida held yesterday to mark this special occasion.
![1000471995.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/annafenix/23tmQMbM4XEyjmR2WZk6snFQYk1KxRn9361x7aHrQ9GrGVtHVfggtqMMmyYppLvBo2xGC.jpg)
The event consisted of a day of functional exercises and concluded with a dance therapy session. It took place at the Cuantía Express (Orinoco) location in the Paseo Los Pinos Shopping Center in El Tigre. Similarly, a few days earlier at the same location, an awareness talk was held on prevention and regular screenings to detect any early signs of this disease. But let’s talk a little about this date and why it’s so important worldwide. We know that these campaigns aim to highlight an issue and raise public awareness about the importance of a specific screening as a preventive measure. While it’s true that we should be vigilant all year round, “Pink October” reinforces this call to action, keeping it constantly in the public consciousness. **International Breast Cancer Awareness Day** --- # International Breast Cancer Awareness Day is observed on October 19 each year with the goal of raising awareness and educating the public about breast cancer prevention.

This campaign aims to remind the public of the importance of early detection of this disease (through self-exams or regular screenings), as it is the most common cancer among women worldwide. Early detection allows it to be identified at an early stage, which greatly increases the chances of a cure. The symbol of the fight against breast cancer is a pink ribbon, which is traditionally attributed to Evelyn H. Lauder, who, along with another activist, proposed this color as an emblem for a charity campaign in the U.S. in 1992. Currently, the rights to the ribbon are managed by Pink Ribbon International. **Upcoming Events in El Tigre** --- # As I mentioned in a previous post, the “Pink Race”—which had been a city tradition every October—did not take place this year. However, this team, in collaboration with the city’s public and private health centers, has organized breast cancer screening events.
![1000471993.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/annafenix/23xVRbibwuskHLX58meS6rjMiTH89wRATHdbunWUPXvPpsCZeZFhimLriTciH1iFyZjJc.jpg)
Some will take place on Saturday, October 24, but I'm sure other locations will join in. (The photos from the events are courtesy of each participating health center's Instagram account.) Some events have already taken place through this past weekend, and we're looking forward to the rest of the events for the remainder of October.

Prevention is key, and that is one of the messages that this team of professionals and local athletes has consistently emphasized regarding this campaign. Thank you all for visiting my blog... I hope you have a wonderful start to the week.
