![Blocktivity is back — rebuilt from scratch](https://blocktivity.info/blog/blog-hero-0368f4913f.webp) # Blocktivity is back — rebuilt from scratch Blocktivity has been asking the same question since 2017: which blockchains do people actually use? The site is now back, rebuilt from scratch around a simpler measure — on-chain transactions. The new Blocktivity went live on 28 September 2026. This is more than a redesign. The way we collect, classify and present blockchain activity has changed underneath it. The goal, however, has not: make it easier to look past market capitalisation, narratives and social activity, and see what is actually happening on-chain. ## Transactions, not operations

The biggest change is also an important correction. The previous version of Blocktivity ranked chains using operations. The problem was that an operation could mean different things on different chains, which made direct comparisons less reliable than they should have been. So the new Blocktivity ranks transactions, not operations. That change means some numbers — and some positions — look different from the old site. We also do not splice the old history onto the new series: it came from different feeds, and joining them would hide a break in the middle of every chart. Starting clean is more useful than manufacturing continuity where it does not exist. ## Every number has a source

A transaction count is only useful if you can understand where it came from. The new leaderboard makes that visible. Each chain shows its source and a [data-status label](https://blocktivity.info/methodology), with statuses such as Official API, Auditable API, Public Source, Self-Reported, Provisional, Stale or Disputed. The collector now pulls data directly from public endpoints for each blockchain rather than relying on figures being pushed into Blocktivity's database. Chains that cannot yet be sufficiently verified are not hidden or filled in with estimates. They appear openly in a separate Emerging & Unverified section. Once they meet the required data thresholds, they move into the main ranking automatically. The board currently tracks more than 150 chains. ## Some familiar chains are still missing

Not every chain from the old Blocktivity is back yet. In several cases, we could not find a public data source that the new collector could reliably read. Anyone can add a chain, free, through [Add Your Chain](https://blocktivity.info/add-your-chain). Projects can also [claim their existing listing](https://blocktivity.info/claim) for free to manage the information associated with it. Old Blocktivity coin-page links redirect to their new equivalents, so links to the previous site should continue to lead somewhere useful. There is also a free [embeddable leaderboard widget](https://blocktivity.info/widget) for sites that want to display Blocktivity data directly. ## What comes next

The leaderboard is the centre of Blocktivity, but the data becomes more useful when we also look at how it changes over time. We will start publishing a weekly blockchain activity article, covering notable movements, trends and changes across the board. A weekly newsletter will follow. For projects that want additional visibility, Blocktivity also offers [banner placements, sponsor spots and Beacon](https://blocktivity.info/advertise), which highlights a chain's row on the leaderboard. The board is live at [blocktivity.info](https://blocktivity.info). Missing a chain?
