Yeah, good luck with that.
Mind you, he is much more competent than Johnson. That being said, libertarians have no shot.
Libertarianism sounds nice in theory, but empirically is a disaster. Society needs checks and balances, otherwise you just have a breeding ground for exploitation.

non-violence would not be a disaster and random violence is better than centralized violence because you have a chance to protect yourself from random violence

~ random thoughts :)

He will have my vote most likely, if he wins the nomination. I've been a fan of Weld for a long time, and he was a big draw to me to vote for the ticket last time. He's an intellectual, charismatic, moderate libertarian choice who could win a lot of appeal in mainstream circles and bring a bigger tent to the Libertarian Party, and be a plausible "NeverTrump" alternative. He'd get high profile endorsements, media attention (and unlike Johnson, he wouldn't botch it), and I think he would be a legit contender and would get into the debates.
I hope he runs.

While he acknowledged the barriers facing third parties in the United States political system, Weld said he thinks their presidential chances in 2020 are at least as good as Donald Trump’s chances were in 2016. And while he says the Libertarian Party should be “serious” about the presidential race, Weld has been getting involved in local elections where the party has a candidate. A former Republican himself, Weld also said he plans to try to recruit libertarian-leaning members of the two major parties to defect like he did.

He didn't defect he was rejected, he didn't win re-election. He has some name recognition left in him, like Johnson and I feel personally that is why they were chose to be the front runners for the party last time around. It wasn't that they have been Libertarians for a number of years it was what they could bring to the party in name recognition. They won't even come close to getting on the debate stage even if he does manage to raise a hundred million dollars for the campaign. He's thinking in terms of Trumps election where if someone had a hundred million and could run they'd stand a chance....but what he is forgetting is that Trump was practically a household word from the get go to.

In 2016, the presidential canidates on the ballot consisted of 3 liberal socialists and 2 VP choices of the same flavor. who let Mike Pence in? I don't know, but freedom-loving citizens had no one to vote for in good faith. I conclude that we must create our own free communities through nonparticipation and voluntary associations and transactions. politics is a giant waste of energy for anyone who loves freedom.
