The Pursuit of Excellence

Education is a means of acquiring knowledge. As we all know, it's really important to be educated. A lot of civilization has been on going day by day and it takes being educated to evolve in this era of civilization. There are two basic types of education, we have the formal and informal education. The formal education is acquired within four walls of school which is majorly based on structured curriculum while the formal education is a spontaneous way of acquiring knowledge for example through skill of interest and more.

The main focus of education is to learn and acquire knowledge even though it comes with series of challenges. I remembered while I was at the university during my undergraduate days, it was a stressful one. I have to wake up so early for morning class, go for tutorial classes, stay awake all through the night to study. Truth be told, it's a lot. But the beauty is graduating with excellent result.

The truth is that life is about competition, we all strive to achieve the best out of life. Life is not about dwelling in comfort zone, there is always a need for a stretch to achieve greatness in life. There is no greatness in staying at ones comfort zone. This as well applies to education, The strive for academic excellence makes education a fierce one. The truth is that there will always be a competition because their is always a reward or award for academic excellence.

Competition in education arises because when students desire to graduate in flying colour. If students are allowed to learn without writing exams, I'm sure many students won't be serious with their academics. Infact many students would choose to seat back at home rather than attending lectures. They would believe they can go online to source for lecture materials on their own. I believe this so called simple education will promote laziness among students.

Even though examination is not the best test of knowledge, but I believe examination will keep students on their toes to study hard. That's why it's advisable that students should stay focused and understand what works for them. I do not encourage starving or have long sleepness night because of exams. But it advisable for students to start preparing earlier enough, many students wait until they fix exams or test before they starts reading thereby putimg themselves into unnecessary pressure by taking drugs, having sleepless night and doing other unethical things just to pass exams.

You don't expect a student who have not been reading right from the beginning of the semester not to be pressured whenever the date of the exam is announced. Lack of early preparation in reading and studying of lecture notes and materials resulted many students to doing unethical things just to pass their exams. The truth is that at this point the student would no longer read or study to learn but just read to pass exams.

In my own opinion, the problem is not majorly about the education system but the manner of approach of students towards academics.

Thanks for reading.........

You've spoken well from a different dimension and I agree with you, students ways of preparing also leaders to them taking rash decisions, especially when they fail to study from the beginning.
