Splinterlands: Skrag The Gnaw and End of Season Results. Also an HPUD!

It's hard to believe that it's already June 1st! It seems like it was just New Year's Day... Time sure flies no matter and there's no slowing the freight train down! As it is the first day of the month I did a customary power up for power up day. So first up I'll share that, then we'll dive into the fun Splinterlands material covering my end of season and some of the legendary cards I pulled.

It wasn't a huge power up, but I've been on a streak for more than two years and it would be a shame to break it!

Now moving onto Splinterlands...

The season ended yesterday and I managed to pull in some nice glint, the most I've ever managed to accumulate as a matter of fact. In excess of 237K, which felt great giving me some nice options on rewards card pulls.

Since my legendary cards are always the slowest and hardest to accumulate, I chose to do three pulls at 70K glint each. Then I also had to pick up some alchemy potions hoping for a gold foil, to no avail!

Still I'm happy with these, I've been wanting the first one for some time, it's nice to have a neutral legendary card with relatively low mana. The death splinter legendary is nice because it has Bloodline Tribute when it is defeated for all Elemental monsters. Sadly, I don't have very many of those. And the life legendary I have no experience with, so I'll have to play with it and figure out how to best make use of it!

I had hoped to pull another copy of Skrag The Gnaw as I have two right now. It's a great card in battle as he's tough, and when he is defeated he applies poison to his assassin and there is a fifty percent chance the adjacent monsters will pick it up too. That ability is Poison Burst, and I love having it!

I can't wait to get a level two as he picks up Reflexes, meaning after taking damage from an attacker during a turn, all the other attackers will miss him during the rest of the round! At level three he picks up both Cripple and Thorns, and finally at level four he also gets Rebirth so he will self resurrect when defeated with full armor and one health. That is an ability for diamond and champion, and since I don't play there I'm not going to worry about leveling it up that much! lol

Now time to see him in action, and the Poison Burst is a huge game changer in this match. You can view the whole battle at this link here.

First off, this battle is in Modern with a mana cap of 51 which isn't too bad leaving the door open for some heavy hitters. The added rulesets were Close Range so all ranged units can fire from the first position and Holy Protection meaning that all units get one consequence free hit before they start taking damage.

For my archon I chose Kaylia Silverleaf which decreases the magic attack of all opponents by one unit, and also allows you to select any elf bloodline from any splinter available. On top of that you get Execute meaning that is after an attack if the opposing monster has two or less health left you get one more attack to finish them off. She's a great one to have available! For my tank I went with Skrag the Gnaw with his Poison Burst ability. Next up I placed Buttercup Mauler and then Thanalorian Blade. I was then able to use one of my favorite cards Sorrow Harvester as she is an elf and has Weaken decreasing the health of all opposing units by one. Last up I placed Mindless Thrall and Forlorn Geomant.

My opponent chose Thalgrimore as archon which decreases the health of all opposing monsters by one. As a tank they went with Thornmaw Berserker followed by Joraki Vensiro. Next they placed the legendary Great Bear Druid and then Sorrow Harvester just as I had done. To round out the team they used Meriput Slinger and Vengeful Monk.

The screenshot above is after the buffs are applied but before the action has started.

During round one they took out my Skrag The Gnaw and Poison Burst was spread to the last three monsters as the Meriput Slinger delivered the final blow.

Here's how thing stand at the start of round two, my team is looking a little bit weak...

And my Buttercup Mauler bites the dust.

Starting out round three more poison is applied to the last three monsters on the opposing team, and it is devastating.

Leaving them with only two monsters left!

My remaining team makes quick work of the last two monsters with Thanalorian Blade delivering the final death blow. Good game to my opponent! Here that Poison Burst from the fallen Skrag The Gnaw saved the day in this match! I had planned on featuring my last card in the lineup today, but he really didn't make a big difference despite his heavy magic attack. It was an interesting match, and I might have lost had it not been for that Poison Burst!

Gladius Packs Opened

As always I like to share some pack openings. Here I had a great pull on two Gladius packs after my last brawl.

In the first pack I got a Captain Katie which is a great card. The next pack was the real surprise yielding a legendary Flagul on Riene and a Quora. The legendary card provided with with enough copies to finally upgrade the card as well, so it turned out great! She picked up Knock Out which does double damage to an opposing monster that happens to be stunned.

No too bad a pack opening this time around! That will wrap things up for my post today, if you don't yet play Splinterlands, it is a fun game and free to play in Frontier Mode. So give a try, if you haven't joined in on the fun of playing Splinterlands you can join here: https://splinterlands.com?ref=thebighigg

That will do it for this Monday, and I do hope you all have a great month of June!

I do hope you enjoyed the post and please feel free to leave any comments or questions below. As always, thanks for all of your support. It's deeply appreciated! Have a good day everyone!

I totally agree! It's hard to believe we are already in June. I don't like how quickly time seems to go now.

I thought it was going to be a long game where you eventually lose at the end, but that's definitely the beauty of splinterlands, you've got some really great powerful cards as well, and they come in handy. Great game.

I thought I was going to lose this one too, but that poison was a game changer. Thanks! That is the fun of the game, some battles have twists like this that keep it interesting!

Yeah, I just had one of such games and I thought I was going to win, and just lost by a small margin.
