Hello, dear Hive Diy community! I hope you are having a great day today.

It’s been ages since I posted here, but I wanted to share my latest drawing of Link with you—I’ve titled it "LINKVERSE."

An Ocarina of Time remake was announced recently, and I was really excited about it, so I decided to bring several versions of Link together in a single drawing. I hope you like it; let’s move on to the step-by-step process.

PROCESO | PROCESS

  • First, I created a rough sketch based on the idea I had in mind. After that, I created the polished line art, which took a bit more time.
  • Once the line art was done, I conducted a color study to get an idea of the colors I would use and to visualize the "final result."

  • With the reference ready, I began coloring the characters one by one; since the process is the same for each, I will only explain how I colored the Link in the center.
  • First, I created a base layer using gray to serve as a reference for the entire coloring process. Then, I added the character's base colors across several different layers—all set to "clipping mask" mode so they wouldn't spill outside the initial gray layer. After establishing the base colors, I added subtle highlights and shadows using lighter and darker tones, respectively.

  • Once I had the base colors set, I grouped all those layers into a single folder; this prepared the setup for adding the final details.
  • From this point on, I used clipping masks for all layers, so I won't mention that step repeatedly.
  • First, I added a layer set to "Multiply" mode to create the drawing's base shadow. On top of that, I added an "Overlay" layer for the highlights. Above that, I added another "Multiply" layer to deepen the shadows. Finally, I added a "Pin Light" layer for the finishing touches to further enhance the drawing.

  • I repeated this process for the other characters, coloring them one by one.

  • Once I finished coloring the characters, I moved on to drawing the background.
  • For the background, I used an olive-green shade and added some texture using other variations of green—some lighter, some darker. Then, I added a sort of paper-cutout style border to the characters because I wanted them to stand out more against the background.
  • To wrap things up, I adjusted some color tones and added very subtle textures; that completed the final result.

  • That’s all, folks! I hope you enjoyed the process and liked the drawing.
  • I tried to explain everything as clearly as possible, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments. Bye!
