Living in a constant state of alert is one of the most exhausting experiences there is. Although the recent earthquakes have been of lower magnitude, the number of aftershocks hasn't dropped. Feeling the ground shake constantly keeps you in an absolute state of hypervigilance, creating an incredible mental fatigue that drains you to the bone.

There were days when I completely collapsed emotionally. I would spend all day in my pajamas, neglecting my appearance, and even skipping meals out of pure guilt in the face of so much tragedy. On top of that, I had to seriously fix my phone's algorithm; seeing so much painful information on social media was completely dragging me down.

Yesterday, I finally found the courage to grab my phone and take a picture. I needed to bring myself back to the present, to be conscious of my own existence, and to understand that while very harsh realities are being lived out there, I also have to prioritize my mental health. The initial grain of sand has already been contributed. I've kept going to work, which turned into a donation center, and I continue to help from there. As I’ve always said, this isn’t a one-day or one-week issue. The hardest-hit states will need support for a much longer time, and that's where we all need to stay mindful and keep our long-term solidarity active.

Little by little, I’m trying to reclaim some normalcy, get back to sleeping well, and step out of this shock, as my emotional stability was completely devastated. Leaving aside any other disaster or tension currently happening in the country, today I choose to focus on healing. Always trusting and praying deeply to God that things will work out in the best possible way.
