Canadian Thanksgiving in Harrison Hot Springs

This weekend was Thanksgiving in Canada. More accurately Thanksgiving Day was last Monday, October 14th, the second Monday of October.

In the United States of America, Thanksgiving is much later, on the fourth Thursday of November; this year it will be on November 28th, the latest it could be.

Thanksgiving has been a statutory holiday in most of Canada since 1879.

The two grandsons of my wife had told their parents that they wanted to see "grandpa and grandma's houses" again. So, the whole family flew from Calgary on Friday, October 11th. They stayed in our apartment in Coquitlam for two days, visiting the Vancouver area. Then, they came to my house in Harrison Hot Springs on Sunday morning.

Because they needed to fly back to Calgary on Monday, we had the traditional Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday evening.

All of our descendants living in Western Canada were there. We were 14, including a friend of my daughter Betty who took this picture.

As I said, the dinner was "traditional" with turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.

It was the first time after our wedding in May that we were all together. Everybody really enjoyed the weekend and I was very happy about this joyful family reunion.

That's was some lovely Thanksgiving get-together you all had and I'm sure lasting memories were made. You must have been excited to see each after so long a time, and your grandkids must have had good fun seeing their grandparents house again. Thanks for sharing the experience with us. It is very nice to celebrate thanksgiving, for me to give thanks is very important and I always do it, especially when I am the one who was able to do something for someone else. I have never celebrated thanksgiving as they celebrate it in Canada or in the United States, each one has its own way, but the bottom line is the same, as the word says, it is a thanksgiving,

It's wonderful that you were able to spend Thanksgiving as a complete family. Even though they already have families of their own, you were still able to get together for it. My family is split in the USA and Philippines, so it has been a long time since we've been complete.

My family is split between British Columbia, Montreal and Maryland. And my 9 brothers and sisters are in France. My wife has three children in Vancouver, Calgary and Scotland. And her mother and two sisters are in Hungary.
We will probably never gather all our descendants in one place.

The greatest happiness is when all the family members are together and spending time together like your children who are in different countries and whenever you are together. If there are, we enjoy a lot, so we all are happy to see similar events. We all should celebrate together.

Such family reunions make me weepy, it's always an emotional time for me, especially the parting and the goodbyes.

Family Reunion is really gives fresh feeling to us. I think in this world no one could be honest and loyal with you as much as your family.
Seeing this family picture I remember my grand parents, who passed Away several years ago. But I really missed them alot whenever I saw such family pictures of others.
You are lucky having this time and fun together.
In our country, no such activities like thanks giving, performed .
In my home whenever all our family members together we make some gathering and enjoy alot.
However, a family members always shown stunning in one frame.
