We convert selected posts to speech and make the content available for more users.
A busy life often means that people do not have time to do all the reading they would like to do online. Having a chance to listen to the content instead of reading it allows them to do something else at the same time.
Sometime reading long post on a small screen is not always easy. It allows people to get the information they want without a great deal of scrolling and aggravation.
Some non native speaker may have difficulty reading in a second language. They may prefer hearing the post.
Please consider upvoting us. We need more bandwidth for posting and have ongoing expense to creating and hosting the speech files.

It would be a great service outside Steemit as well. I for one create educational content and script everything filmed into text... this would be a great help to me. And if you designed a platform that did create these from video, it would be a great advantage to DTube over YouTube.

You are totally right. If it wasn't because they out of nowhere popped in here telling me about this new feature, I would have never know about them. Even in this post there is only 1 tag...
Good for you for giving proper support to them. They clearly need a little bit of advises on how to get known in this platform, because what they are offering is quite cool actually.
As far as I know, the only promotion they are doing is leaving comments on people's posts announcing they converted it into an audio, and while this is ok, I think there are better ways for them to get noticed.

How is this spam? It's a really cool service if you ask me; (which you didn't), I personally appreciate it on my posts for exactly the reasons stated above. Somebody might just scroll through one of my articles just to pop a vote and then go, then they see that and they might listen to it, thus widening my audience :-)
Anyway, opinions are like bum holes, we all have one! :-)

Very interesting service. As mentioned by some other suers, the speech can be faster, quite slow now. Also, how do you plan to make TTS available? I would think this shall be user controlled rather then you deciding what posts to convert and post the audio file as a comment. I may like to listen to posts when eg driving my car, and prefer to read the post when I'm at my desk.

This is a great idea. You are welcome to freely read my posts if you wish. Some of them aren't as good as others but I've gotten a curie twice this past month. You could do well to offer a paid service. I love the audio player. I wish there was a way to use the audio player for my other audio to embed. Most of the time we have to hotlink to audio :(

P.S. I have never met such kind of villain like @ipromote in my life before. He unexpectedly flagged all my 3 Steem blogs which I made elaborately without rhyme or reason at a stroke. Those wonderful and carefully-chosen pictures inserted in my blogs are being hidden, too. I wish all Steemiars know that @ipromote is a big demon, a vampire of Steemit! Such kind of holligan like @ipromotea should be thrown into the burning fire of hell forever! There have been a lot of Steemiars protesting his/her bullying and atrosity.
Just due to @ipromote's existence in Steemit, I even begin to hate our lovely global/international Steemit platform. Such kind of flagging system in Steemit can only help form "the internet bullying culture"! It is absolutely too bad and intolerable for the development and prosperity of the global Steemit platform itself.

This is an interesting service. It is particularly interesting from the standpoint of people with a visual impairment. You might consider automating a post which contains a link to the article as well as the audio recording and having that posted on your site. Perhaps the content could be put onto dtube?
Another thought is that on steemhost.com we could work on having a visually impaired enabled page that could display not only a link to the article but also a second link to open the audio. In Canada we have an organization called the CNIB and I am sure that there will be others in other countries that might be convinced to participate in this. These organizations might be interested in providing their members a steem-based blogging system.
Is there any way i can tag you and make you do one for my posts. i find it hilarious.
Feel free to convert whatever you wish. I am visually impared, and having spoken audio is great. Trying ot read things on a screen the size of a tiny photo is tough. More of us could use this :)

I have a great deal of respect for people who deal with handicaps and believe it is essential that they have resources available to allow them to use computers, etc. However, you do not have the right to make other people's copyrighted information available as an audio download without their explicit permission. There is a big difference between using a tool or software that reads to you and having a third party provide downloadable audio content to anyone who wants it. You don't update your audio files when people edit their posts, do you? We have a right to edit for 7 days. We didn't give you permission to EARN MONEY on our content.

You also provide an archive of posts as they were written within those first few minutes. I once had half of a post disappear a day after I posted it (site glitch?) and was able to use your recording to transcribe the part that has been lost. I've been upvoting your comments ever since.

Neat, I already use TTS daily to read articles in the background, but that's mostly on desktop, on mobile I don't have any convenient apps for that, so your service will be a big boon.

This seems like a great service.. Have you considered somehow converting it to an Dapp and then if people opt in it converts all their posts to speech?
