Fool’s Day - when everyone becomes a professional liar
Ok guys. Serious question. Be honest. What’s the BEST prank you ever pulled on someone for April 1st… aka Fool’s Day (which, honestly, sounds a bit offensive but ok, we move on)?
Because let’s not lie here… I’m like 99% sure every single one of you has tried to prank someone at least once. Maybe it worked. Maybe it failed miserably. Either way...you tried 😄
Or, a better question..Were you ever fooled by someone, and if yes...how? 🤔😉
Now, usually, I don’t fall for these things. I’m careful. I’m suspicious. I trust NO ONE on April 1st. 💪
But today? Oh today… I embarrassed myself. 🥺
So I wake up at 10 a.m. (yes, I know, new personal record, please stay calm). First thing I see? Message from my mother-in-law: “Hey honey, we are coming for coffee.”
Then I check when she sent it. ONE. HOUR. AGO.
I swear I jumped out of bed like someone screamed “RUN.” My brain instantly goes: THEY’LL BE HERE IN 10 MINUTES. TEN. MINUTES.
And I’m just standing there like… no. No no no. I have zero time today. NONE. I love them, but today is not the day for surprise coffee visits. Today is chaos, stress, and me barely functioning.
So I start running around like crazy, then I go wake up my husband...more like attack him: “WHY didn’t you tell me your parents are coming?!”
He opens his eyes slowly… gives me that look (you know the one… half dead, half angry because you woke him up for drama).
And then he says: “It’s April 1st.”
Pause.
“They’re messing with you.”
And this man… just turns around and goes back to sleep like nothing happened.
Amazing. Incredible. The disrespect.
And me? Still not convinced. Because what if it’s NOT a joke? What if they actually show up and I’m here looking like I live in a forest with no electricity?
But I refuse to call and ask. No way. That would mean THEY WIN. And listen... They always win. Always. They are like prank masters.
So I just sit there. Quiet. Waiting. Hoping with all my heart this is a joke. 🥺
And… it was. So now I don’t even know how to feel. Happy? Relieved? Or just annoyed because they got me AGAIN?!
Anyway. After surviving that emotional rollercoaster, I finally sit down with my coffee and start thinking...WHY? Why is April 1st even a thing? Who woke up one day and said, “You know what would be fun? Let’s lie to people for entertainment.” 🤔😂
I need answers!! 😂
Turns out… nobody really knows. Of course.
But there are some theories. This whole thing has been around since at least the 1500s. So yeah… people have been messing with each other for a LONG time. Respect, honestly. 👌
One theory goes back to Geoffrey Chaucer. In one of his stories, there’s tricking and fooling happening around what might be April 1st. Or… it could just be a typo. Imagine starting a global prank tradition because of a typo. But...honestly? Sounds about right.
Then we have the French with their “April Fish” thing, where they stick paper fish on your back. Why fish? No idea. But ok, be creative I guess. 🤔
There’s also Charles IX, who changed the New Year to January 1st, and people who didn’t get the memo got laughed at. So basically…calendar confusion turned into bullying. Nice.
And honestly… humans have always been like this. Even ancient Romans had festivals where people dressed up and mocked each other. So yeah… nothing new here.
But the BEST part? Modern pranks. Because people really went all in.
In 1957, BBC convinced people that spaghetti grows on trees. They even showed actual footage of people picking spaghetti from trees. FROM TREES. And people believed it. I’m sorry but… how do you see pasta growing on a tree and go “yes, this makes sense”? 😂
Then in 1962, television viewers were told that if they put nylon stockings over their TV screens, they would magically see color. And yes...people actually did it. Imagine sitting there, adjusting your stockings like “hmmm yes, almost HD.” 🤔
In 1985, Sports Illustrated published a story about a baseball player who could throw a ball at 270 km/h ( and because I’m nice - 168 miles per hour.) People believed it. Of course they did. 🙄
And then in 1998… my favorite… Burger King announced a special burger for left-handed people. Apparently, they rotated the ingredients 180 degrees. I just… what does that even mean?! And people actually went to order it. Like: “Hi yes, one left-handed burger please.” I cannot 😂
So yeah… moral of the story? Do. Not. Trust. Anyone. Today.
Not your partner. Not your family. Not even your best friend. Learn from me. I almost had a full mental breakdown before my first coffee.

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does
Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone
I've been labelled a lot of things on Hive 😂 by the biggest farmers scammers and downvoters
Actions speak louder than any words do especially when them words are coming from a compolsive liars

Love the idea of a left-handed burger; I reckon they could market that nowadays and make a killing. People seem more gullible than ever in this time of over-information!
I couldn't tell you the best pranks/fools that I can remember, mostly because I can't remember what I had for breakfast, never mind April Fools of old! I do remember looking through newspapers in the past, trying to work out which stories were real and which were fake. Does that still happen? Do people buy newspapers? Are any Newspaper stories 'real'?
The biggest fools today seem to be the fuel prices 0.o

I want to say people didn't have the option to check that information because, I mean… if you read it in a paper, it was probably true… so, they believed. But now, we have the option to check online if the news is true… nope… people read something and believe it without checking other sites to see if it's even true 😂. So... if nowadays some big news station pranks you… it's your fault… you didn't check the facts 😂. I know last year, they wrote an article on their official news site, and it was just a prank… yesterday, I wasn't very active, so I don't know if they did this again this year 🤔. And yes… they still sell newspapers 😂. Not that I buy them, but I work in healthcare, and our residents still read them, so now and then I also look at a few :) Thanks for the advice 💪

Hello everyone I hope you are all good and well today in this post is some of the evidence to prove my case
If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does
Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone
I've been labelled a lot of things on Hive 😂 by the biggest farmers scammers and downvoters
Actions speak louder than any words do especially when them words are coming from a compolsive liars

No one actually knows the origin of these things, people just practice it. I think I already prepared my mind that yesterday was going to April fool's day.
Infact someone made a post on the 31st of march, I thought it was for April fool only for me to realise it wasn't lol.
Glad it's all come and gone.
it's probably better not to believe anything you see or hear 😂, and then check the next day if it's true or was just a prank 😂. I wasn't active on social media yesterday and had little contact with people, so they didn't have the chance to prank me. Only my mother-in-law, and that was already too much 😂
