1. Your Turn NATO
Over the last few weeks, a handful of Ukrainian drones on their way to Western Russia have crossed over into Finnish territory and crashed in the forest. Either they got lost or more likely, their signals were interfered with and their GPS disrupted by Russia counter drone activities. No one was injured, but now there is a "Drone Alert" App that people can use to be warned.
However yesterday, a Russian drone crossed the Ukrainian border and into Romania, hitting a building and injuring two people. While not the first wayward attack, it is the first time anyone in a NATO (or EU) country has been injured due to the war between Russia and Ukraine. While not an intentional attack, it is going to be interesting to see if there is any response at all other than "condemnation" from leaders.
Condemnation is the equivalent of changing their Facebook profiles in support.
2. Once You've Had Black Box
This is pretty gimmicky, wasteful, and likely overly useless, but it is also a bit of fun. A "black box" for climate change is being built in Tasmania (the home of Tassie Devil from Loony Tunes) that will record a whole lot of climate data for "future generations" (or aliens) to uncover how we sent ourselves extinct. It will even pull news headlines on climate change and information about the actions of governments.
Or inactions.

I am guessing the idea comes from the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey
The trouble I have with it is that it is "expected to have enough capacity to store data for the next 30 to 50 years." - which is an incredibly short time. However, it is pretty much on par with what I think we might live as a species if we keep heading down the current path.
I think we are doomed.
3. Crooked as a $250 Bill
Besides it being illegal to have a living person, the US Treasury is preparing a $250 note with Trump's face on it. Now, being illegal doesn't stop the current US government from really doing anything anyway, but perhaps they are taking the gamble that sooner or later, one of the nuts targeting him gets a shot on target.
What I don't get is why a $250 bill? It is such a silly number to have, as it seems kind of pointless. It isn't that much higher than 100, so it would still take four notes to 1000, instead of ten. But I suspect that most people wouldn't really find it convenient, at least not mentally, nor does it roll off the tongue - much like the gibberish that comes out of Trump's mouth, so it is fitting.
My question is:
Will it be green, or orange?

It is strange that how a drone can inadvertently cross borders and cause injuries, and in a NATO country.
What do you think the reaction should be?
I am not sure what the reactions should be appropriate. Intensity of such incidents is increasing by the day. One thing is quite clear, though, world is turning into might is right society, following jungle rules.
When elephants fight, the grass gets trampled.
Is it the time of WW3? Almost every fourth of fifth country is busy in war... This should be stopped otherwise this world might be stopped producing more lives...
WW3 might already be in the early stages. Who knows.
May be. Some major countries already in war, if it really is the beginning of WW3, should we still save for future?
If you do save abd lose it, it sucks. If you don't save and you needed too, it sucks more.

That detail about the 30 to 50-year lifespan of the Black Box in Tasmania is the most honest fact about the whole project. It is the ultimate admission that not even the scientists who designed it believe there is a ‘distant future’ that will ever read it. It is a time capsule for no one. It seems we are building monuments to our own extinction whilst we argue over whether a $250 note should be orange. Don’t you think the absurdity of Trump’s coin is the perfect distraction from looking at that monolith’s 50-year countdown?
Yeah - perhaps it is drawing in so much data they don't have the capacity - but that is a massive amount of data considering how large the thing is.
Orange is the new gold.

I think the reaction will be expression of more concern and nothing else... Unless there is a direct and substantial attack on a NATO country with the aim of taking territory Europe will not be doing anything against Russia.

Indeed, war is a war where one side is destroyer, while the other side benefits economically. For example, drone manufacturing companies often order drones to attack enemy countries. I am sure that drone was intentionally sent to Rumania. With all the tech and control existing, there is no way the Russians could have done such a mistake. There are many wars running at the same time, and we probably know very little about what is taking place beyond what the media is publishing.
Not necessarily a mistake, but both sides are using jamming tech that interferes with GPS, making the drones think they are somewhere else.
The broader question is whether repeated accidents dissolve NATO's tolerance. If civilians continue to be harmed, even unintentionally, pressure could mount for a harder response beyond condemnation.
I guess the creation of new bills is not the standard, it costs much more, I guess it does. If they are not going to replace any note, then it has to be for just existence purposes. At first it would be new and people wouldn’t know much about it. I guess it would be with a limited supply that will end after a time. But having Trump on it is outrageous.

That $250 bill sounds like fake news to me, but what do I know. I have been trying to avoid the news over the past few months.
