[ENG/ESP] A day of scenic drives, classic cars, and unforgettable moments
Happy Sunday, everyone.
I sincerely hope you have a wonderful start to the week, filled with energy, serenity, and good times. For those of you returning to work on Monday, I hope you arrive with renewed strength and a clear mind to face whatever comes your way. In my case, I still have one more day off, since I’m going back to work on Tuesday, so today I decided to take advantage of this free time to share a little bit of my day with you and the special views I captured during our outing.
It was a relaxing outing, the kind you don’t plan too much but that ends up being beautiful. My husband and I had to go into town because our worker, colleague, and friend Luis was in the middle of moving. He wanted to get a head start on moving some things so he could get organized and, that way, move his family on Tuesday with everything more in order.
Since the sun was really intense, we put on long-sleeved shirts and plenty of sunscreen before heading out. Sweltering days tend to be beautiful in their own way; the colors intensify, the sky seems more vivid, and the landscapes shine with a special radiance.

Deseo de corazón que tengan un hermoso inicio de semana, lleno de energía, serenidad y buenos momentos. Para quienes este lunes se incorporan a sus labores, ojalá lleguen con las fuerzas renovadas y con la mente clara para afrontar lo que venga. En mi caso, todavía me queda un día más de descanso, ya que me reincorporo al trabajo el martes, así que hoy decidí aprovechar este tiempo libre para compartirles un pedacito de mi día y de las vistas tan especiales que capturé durante nuestro recorrido.
Fue un paseo relajante, de esos que no se planifican demasiado pero terminan siendo hermosos. Mi esposo y yo teníamos que ir a la ciudad porque nuestro trabajador, compañero y amigo Luis estaba en pleno proceso de mudanza. Él quería adelantar el traslado de algunas cosas para poder organizarse bien y así, el martes, mudar a su familia con todo más ordenado.
Como el sol estaba realmente bravo, nos colocamos camisas de mangas largas y suficiente protector solar antes de salir. Los días sofocantes suelen ser hermosos a su manera; los colores se intensifican, el cielo parece más vivo y los paisajes brillan con una fuerza particular.
As we entered the city of Porlamar, we were greeted by its iconic sign, the one that always announces our arrival with a mix of joy and warmth. All around us, the urban landscape unfolded in its usual rhythm: shops open, people walking, motorcycles passing by, and that city atmosphere that contrasts so sharply with the island’s quieter areas.
Al entrar a la ciudad de Porlamar, nos recibió su cartel característico, ese que siempre anuncia la llegada con una mezcla de alegria y bienvenida. A su alrededor, los paisajes urbanos se desplegaban con su ritmo habitual; comercios abiertos, gente caminando, motos pasando, y ese aire citadino que contrasta tanto con las zonas más tranquilas de la isla.
Since we were already there, we took the opportunity to stop by the Terranova shopping center. We needed to check in with H2O about some supplies we’ll need for a project coming up next week. Luckily, they were open, and we were able to sort out what we needed without any issues.
Ya que estábamos allí, aprovechamos para pasar por el centro comercial Terranova. Teníamos que hacer una consulta en H2O sobre unos insumos que necesitaremos para un trabajo pendiente de la próxima semana. Por suerte estaban abiertos y pudimos aclarar lo que necesitábamos sin contratiempos.
After that, we continued on our way to Luis’s house to help him move. To be honest, he had everything pretty well organized, which made the process go much faster. We loaded everything into the car and set off for his new home, enjoying the beautiful scenery the island always has to offer along the way, especially on such a sunny day.
Después de eso, continuamos nuestro camino hacia la casa de Luis para ayudarlo con su mudanza. La verdad es que él tenía todo bastante organizado, lo cual hizo el proceso más rápido. Cargamos las cosas en el auto y salimos rumbo a su nueva morada, disfrutando en el trayecto de los hermosos paisajes que la isla siempre tiene para regalarnos, especialmente en un día tan radiante.
When we were done, we headed back home. We always enjoy looking at the natural landscape; it’s like a respite for the eyes and the spirit. I love gazing at the hills in the distance, which, despite the drought, still retain a touch of greenery that refuses to fade away. That contrast between the arid and the living has always fascinated me.
Cuando terminamos, emprendimos el regreso a casa. Ver el paisaje natural siempre nos resulta agradable; es como un descanso para la vista y para el espíritu. Me encanta observar los cerros a lo lejos, que a pesar de la sequía mantienen un toque de verdor que se resiste a desaparecer. Ese contraste entre lo árido y lo vivo siempre me ha parecido fascinante.
We were driving down 31 de Julio Avenue when, suddenly, two classic cars caught our eye. They were vintage cars, immaculate and gleaming, as if they’d just rolled out of a car show. Here on the island, they’re often used for weddings, though this time there was no bride. It looked more like they were being transported for delivery. Seeing them brought back fond memories, because back home it was common to see these kinds of cars cruising around with elegance and style. It was a lovely surprise—the kind that brightens your day when you least expect it.
Veníamos por la avenida 31 de Julio cuando, de repente, dos vehículos clásicos llamaron nuestra atención. Eran autos de época, impecables, brillantes, como recién salidos de una exhibición. Aquí en la isla suelen usarlos para celebraciones de bodas, aunque esta vez no llevaban novia. Parecía más bien que estaban siendo trasladados para entrega. Verlos me trajo lindos recuerdos, porque en mi tierra natal era común ver este tipo de autos circulando con elegancia y estilo. Fue una sorpresa bonita, de esas que alegran el día sin esperarlo.
After that little special moment, we continued on our way home, satisfied that we’d done what we needed to do and with our hearts full of joy for the little things that turn an ordinary day into something radiant and beautiful.
