My grandparents left Venezuela a month ago because they don't have access to any kind of healthcare system in their own country. My grandfather has a heart condition, and in Venezuela, he was practically given up for dead. His children (my aunt and uncle) did everything they could to bring them to Colombia since they have health insurance here, thanks to the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela that they decided to come to Colombia years ago.

In Colombia, they found stability, a country that welcomed us and offered us protection. But two years ago, they returned to Venezuela because they believed that after so many years, there was a solution and they could live in a more stable country. I also went to Venezuela for a few months. We were wrong. Venezuela doesn't offer security to anyone unless you have a job where you earn a lot of dollars or own a large business.

I didn't even last a year in Venezuela. I couldn't. I had to return to Colombia. Here I am working and I've started studying Electronic Engineering at a university.

My grandparents tried to stay there, but the precarious state of public services, the water shortage, the constant power outages, and the exorbitant costs of private healthcare and medication made it impossible to afford. A month ago, they moved back, and my grandfather was hospitalized almost immediately after arriving. He underwent three surgeries, including heart surgery, and is still recovering.

Right now, I'm with them. Sometimes I stay with my grandfather at night, and at lunchtime, I bring him lunch or anything else he might need. I try to be a good help and a good grandson.

Mis abuelos hace un mes se vinieron de Venezuela porque en su propio país no tienen acceso a ningún tipo de sistema de salud. Mi abuelo sufre del corazón, en Venezuela prácticamente lo desahuciaron. Sus hijos( mis tios) hicieron todo lo posible por trasladarlos a Colombia ya que aquí tienen seguro médico gracias a que hace años decidieron venir a Colombia por la crisis humanitaria que atravesaba Venezuela.

En Colombia encontraron estabilidad, un país que nos cobijó y nos brindó protección. Pero hace dos años se regresaron a Venezuela porque creían que después de tantos años tenía solución y podrían vivir en un país más estable, yo también fui por unos meses a Venezuela, nos equivocamos, Venezuela no le brinda seguridad a nadie a menos que tengas un trabajo donde ganes muchos dólares o seas dueño de un gran negocio.

No duré ni un año en Venezuela, no pude, tuve que regresarme nuevamente a Colombia, aquí estoy trabajando y empecé en una universidad a estudiar Ingeniería Electrónica.

Mis abuelos intentaron seguir allí pero la precaria situación de los servicios públicos, el agua, los constantes apagones y la atención de salud privada junto con los medicamentos eran gastos muy exorbitantes. Hace un mes se regresaron y apenas llegaron mi abuelo fue hospitalizado, le hicieron 3 cirugías y una operación de corazón, aún se está recuperando.

En este momento, estoy con ellos a veces me quedo con mi abuelo en las noches y al mediodía le llevo los almuerzos o alguna otra cosa que necesiten. Trato de ser una buena ayuda y de ser un buen nieto.
