A few weeks ago, I attended a classic car event, and there was this stunning Toyota Celica GT-Four (ST205).

Thoughts
Years of Production
The sixth-generation Toyota Celica (T200) was produced from 1993 to 1999. The GT-Four ST205 version, the sportiest in the range, was built from 1994 to 1999.

Who is the Manufacturer
This car was produced by Toyota Motor Corporation, one of the most important Japanese automobile manufacturers. For decades, the Celica was one of the company's most iconic sports coupes, renowned for its reliability and performance.
My neighbor also owns one, white, but it's from the fifth generation, not the one in the photos.

The history of the car
The Toyota Celica was born in 1970 as an affordable sports coupé and over the course of its seven generations has evolved to become a major player in world rallying. The GT-Four represents the pinnacle of the series: it was developed to compete in the World Rally Championship (WRC) and to transfer many racing-derived solutions to the road.
This is clearly evident in the model I photographed. Interestingly, the first Celicas of the 1970s were nicknamed "Japanese Mustangs."

Who developed the project
The sixth generation Celica was designed by the Toyota design team in the early 1990s. The technical development of the GT-Four was overseen by Toyota Team Europe (TTE), the organization that prepared the official cars competing in the World Rally Championship.

How ​​Many Were Produced
The Toyota Celica has sold over 4 million units in its seven generations. The GT-Four ST205, being a specialized, high-performance version, was produced in much more limited numbers: approximately 12,000 units, making it particularly sought-after by collectors today. This is also one of the reasons why Toyota Celica rallies are so popular.

Historical and Sporting Significance
The GT-Four is one of the most iconic Japanese sports cars of the 1990s.

It was equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo 3S-GTE engine producing approximately 255 hp, permanent all-wheel drive, and a 5-speed manual transmission. It was used in the World Rally Championship (WRC) by drivers such as Carlos Sainz, Didier Auriol, and Juha Kankkunen (names well-known in the rally world).

Conclusions
From what I know, the Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205 is now considered one of the "JDM legends" of the 1990s (JDM = Japanese Domestic Market). It was a car that combined Japanese reliability, high performance, and a significant racing heritage, qualities that made it a classic highly prized by classic car enthusiasts and collectors.

Questa auto è stata prodotta dalla Toyota Motor Corporation, uno dei più importanti costruttori automobilistici giapponesi. La Celica è stata per decenni una delle coupé sportive più rappresentative della casa, apprezzata per affidabilità e prestazioni.
Ne possiede una anche il mio vicino, di colore bianco, ma appartenente alla quinta generazione, non a quella delle foto..

La Toyota Celica nacque nel 1970 come coupé sportiva accessibile e nel corso delle sue sette generazioni si è evoluta fino a diventare una delle protagoniste dei rally mondiali. La GT-Four rappresenta l'apice della serie: fu sviluppata per competere nel Campionato del Mondo Rally (WRC) e trasferire sulla strada molte soluzioni derivate dalle competizioni.
Questo si può notare bene anche nell'esemplare che ho fotografato. Una curiosità, le prime Celica degli anni 70 vennero soprannominate "Japanese Mustang".

Da quel che so io, la Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205 è considerata oggi una delle "JDM legends" degli anni '90 (JDM=Japanese Domestic Market). Era un’auto che univa affidabilità giapponese, prestazioni elevate e un importante patrimonio sportivo, qualità che ne hanno fatto un classico molto apprezzato dagli appassionati di auto storiche e da collezione.
