El Zorro es un personaje creado en 1919 por Johnston McCulley, considerado uno de los primeros héroes de acción en la cultura moderna, esta figura ha aparecido en numerosos libros, películas, series de televisión y otros medios de comunicación.
Aunque sus interpretaciones han sufrido cambios a los largo de los años, transformando la imagen de este apuesto forajido enmascarado y vestido de negro que surge como un símbolo de salvación, que defiende a la gente de funcionarios tiránicos y otros villanos. Aun así el zorro sigue siendo un personaje astuto como para no dejarse atrapar por las autoridades y de igual manera mantener su identidad secreta.
Aunque el Zorro apareció por primera vez en el cuento de la maldición de Capistrano por Johnston McCulley este fue publicado en 1919 en la revista Pulp All-Story Weekly.
La historia trata de Don diego de la vega, un joven de la aristocracia californiana que durante la era mexicana de (1821-1846) junto a su sirviente sordomudo Bernardo, lucha contra las injusticias cometidas por las autoridades defendiendo al pueblo oprimido.

Diego de la vega no fue un personaje real, pero Johnston McCulley pudo haberse inspirado en algunos bandidos reales de California. Algunos de estos surgieron de la leyenda mexicana Joaquín Murrieta (el Robin Hood de El Dorado), el mismo Robín Hood entre otros.

Zorro is a character created in 1919 by Johnston McCulley, considered one of the first action heroes in modern culture, this figure has appeared in numerous books, movies, television series and other media. Although interpretations of him have undergone changes over the years, transforming the image of this handsome masked and black-clad outlaw who emerges as a symbol of salvation, defending the people from tyrannical officials and other villains. Even so, the fox is still a cunning character so as not to get caught by the authorities and in the same way keep his secret identity. Although Zorro first appeared in Johnston McCulley's tale of the Curse of Capistrano, it was published in 1919 in Pulp All-Story Weekly. The story is about Don Diego de la Vega, a young man from the Californian aristocracy who during the Mexican era (1821-1846) together with his deaf-mute servant Bernardo, fights against the injustices committed by the authorities defending the oppressed people. The Character: Diego de la Vega was not a real character, but Johnston McCulley may have been inspired by some real California bandits. Some of these arose from the Mexican legend Joaquín Murrieta (the Robin Hood of El Dorado), Robin Hood himself among others.
Debido al éxito de su precedente La Marca del Zorro, película muda de aventura y romance, considerado uno de los primeros Western que definió el género en el cine. Basado en su misma historia el guion fue adaptado para una película producida y actuada por el mismo Douglas Fairbanks, a través de United Artists. La película fue versionada en varias ocasiones, donde luego se conservó en el registro nacional de películas.
Due to the success of its predecessor The Mark of Zorro, a silent adventure and romance film, considered one of the first Westerns that defined the genre in cinema. Based on his own story, the script was adapted for a film produced and acted by Douglas Fairbanks himself, through United Artists. The film was covered several times, where it was later preserved in the National Film Registry.

The mark of Zorro tells the story of Don Diego Vega, the apparent smug son of a rich rancher, when Diego sees the mistreatment of the peons by the rich landowners and the oppressive colonial government, who is not as mannered as he pretends, he takes the identity of the masked, appearing out of nowhere with his sword and flashing an athletic sense of humor.
