10 million trees 🌱 🌳 10 millones de árboles
I don't know if this is happening in all countries of planet Earth, but the last two months in Venezuela we've had extremely high temperatures. The heat is intense, and during the hours when the sun is at its peak, you can almost feel the steam in the air.
No sé si está sucediendo en todos los países del planeta tierra, pero los dos últimos meses en Venezuela hemos tenido unas temperaturas altísimas. El calor está muy fuerte, y en las horas cuando el sol está en su apogeo, hasta se siente un vapor en el aire.
We've all heard about climate change. For at least the last 30 years, this topic has been making headlines around the world, featured at environmental conferences, and discussed at countless conservation events. It has been identified as a consequence of global environmental degradation, and extreme heat, for example, is one of the most serious problems that has emerged.
Todos hemos oído hablar del cambio climático. Por lo menos durante los últimos 30 años, este tema ha estado en los titulares de los medios alrededor del mundo, en congresos ambientales y miles de eventos conservacionistas. Se lo ha señalado como la consecuencia del deterioro ambiental a nivel mundial, y por ejemplo, el calor extremo es una de las problemáticas más graves que ha surgido.
Recently, here in Venezuela, the state environmental agencies launched a national campaign with the goal of planting 10 million trees across the country by 2026. People can register on a website to volunteer in the different activities and events, or they can also participate through environmental organizations in their community.
Hace poco, aquí en Venezuela, las instituciones de ambiente del Estado lanzaron una campaña nacional con el objetivo de sembrar durante 2026, 10 millones de árboles por todo el país. Las personas se pueden registrar en una página web para ser voluntarios en las diferentes actividades y jornadas, o también pueden participar a través de las organizaciones ambientales de su comunidad.
The figure may sound ambitious at first, but I believe it is possible to achieve this goal. Venezuela has a population of approximately 28 million, and if only 10% of the population participated in the plan, with each person planting several trees, it could be done. I'm always optimistic 😃.
La cifra puede sonar ambiciosa en un principio, pero creo que sí es posible alcanzar este objetivo. Venezuela tiene una población aproximada de 28 millones de habitantes, y si tan sólo participaran en el plan, digamos el 10% de la población, plantando cada persona varios ejemplares, se logra. Siempre soy optimista 😃.
This initiative is being implemented in towns and cities, as well as in protected areas. The species that are prioritized for planting in the different spaces are fruit trees, medicinal plants and trees such as Araguaney (Handroanthus chrysanthus), Chaguaramo (Roystonea oleracea) and Flamboyan (Delonix regia).
Esta iniciativa se está ejecutando tanto en los pueblos y ciudades, como en las zonas protegidas. Las especies que se priorizan para plantar en los diferentes espacios son las frutales, medicinales y árboles como Araguaneyes, Chaguaramos y Flamboyanes.
Trees not only beautify the environment, but they also lower the temperature and provide habitat for many species. I've participated in reforestation efforts several times, and this time I'm going to do my part for the environment too 😉.
Los árboles no sólo embellecen el entorno, también bajan la temperatura y son hábitat de muchas especies. He participado varias veces en jornadas de reforestación, y esta vez también voy a hacer mi aporte por el ambiente 😉.

Thank you! 😉 Environmental issues motivate me ❤️. During reforestation days, they provide the plants, but I'm also collecting some tree seeds I've found to see if I can germinate them and then plant them on a mountain I visit frequently.

Ojalá se sume el país entero a esta iniciativa.
Recuerdo que cuando construí mi casa en lo que algunos aún llamaban el pueblo (barrio de Sabilar), era normal que el carro amaneciera cubierto de rocío, pero con los años este fenómeno desapareció. La ciudad siguió creciendo y la carretera se convirtió en avenida y las tierras de cultivo en urbanizaciones de casas y edificios donde, con tristeza, a nadie se le ocurrió dejar o sembrar un árbol.
Vi con dolor cómo se talaron sin piedad mangos, guayacanes y tamarindos o almendrones. Cualquiera que con sus raíces levantara una acera fue víctima del hacha y la sierra.
Ahora se fueron las nubes; las vi pasar de largo con mucha prisa y ahora no hay canto ni llanto que las haga parar a dar sombra a tanta ingratitud.
Es lamentable eso... Las ciudades y pueblos sin árboles, sin verdor, son lugares tristes donde la vida no fluye.
Esperemos que esta iniciativa traiga beneficios a muchísimos espacios en todo el país 😃 🍃. ¡Gracias por pasar!
