Casually Competitive

Hello, there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
So, another season has passed, and we are now in Modern Format Ranked Season 95. Just before the last season ends, there are some major updates to the game that were implemented, such as the overhaul of the SPS rental market and the addition of Phoenix Ash to reduce the cooldown of cards in Survival mode. I do not know how it is currently affecting Survival gameplay since I do not even try to play this season, but I can imagine how it will make the format more manageable for players with smaller card collections, particularly with the Archons, which is the most important card you need in Survival. Aside from that, there were also new rulesets that were added to the game.
I plan to make a more detailed post for each of those updates, but for now, I just want to share the results of my grind last season and the current progress of my reward cards. But before I proceed, I just want to remind everyone that it was the first day of the month, which means it is another day for an #HPUD. Earlier today, I staked another 50 HP in my account, and currently has 9k HP staked in total.

Modern Format Season 94 Splinterlands Report
For the seventh consecutive time, I once again made it on the Champion leaderboard, which is already shocking by itself, given how I only play casually for fun and with how many cards my deck is lacking in comparison to all the powerful decks in the Champion league, especially those that were played by scholars. At this point, I do not even know why no one is asking me to be a scholar. Maybe because I was rarely active on Discord, but to be fair, I don't even know if I could handle one right now since I have more important commitments that could use any spare time that I have.

| Statistic | ![]() Modern Ranked Champion |
|---|---|
| Leaderboard Rank | 92- Champion III |
| Rating | 3,980 |
| Total Battles | 441 |
| Total Wins | 221 |
| Win Rate | 50.11% |
| Longest Streak | 8 |
| Leaderboard Reward |
For modern ranked season 94, I was able to stay in the top 100 of the Champion leaderboard, placing in the 92nd spot, giving me 50k Glint. Overall, I played a total of 441 battles, by which I won 221 of them, giving me a 50.11% win rate. I managed to reach Champion II but I decided to derank to Champion III since I still get the same leaderboard reward even if I go at 4k rating, and instead will just miss the Diamond 3 advancement reward.
| Staking Rewards | 32.19 SPS |
|---|---|
| Ranked Rewards | 4,148.491 SPS - Modern |
| Brawl Rewards | 63.249 SPS |
| Tournament Prize | 1550 SPS - DEC |
| Total | 5,793.93 SPS - DEC |
Looking at my previous season report, the total SPS that I won last season was on the higher end than the SPS I get on the season prior to it, and this is because a higher rating comes with higher rewards. Those additional SPS that I rented definitely boosted my earnings.
And with that, I have earned a total of 5,793.93 SPS or about 24.53 $ combined at its current price.
| MERITS Brawl prizes | |
|---|---|
| MERITS Draw Reward | |
| VOUCHER | 4.602 |
| Fortune Entry | 490 |
And with me participating in all the brawls, I earned a total of 10,200 merits this season for a total of 33,063 Merits if we include the Merits I got from Chests. My fortune entries this season were higher. There was a draw today which I did not include for the previous season, but guess what? My unlucky streak has finally been broken. I just checked and I have won a Black Foil Grim Bonewhip. I already own a black foil copy of this card, but I will always take it whenever I can.

| Glint Ranked | |
|---|---|
| Glint Season | |
| Suvival | |
| Reward | |
| Total Glint Earned |
When it comes to my Glint earnings, I have almost reached 600k Glint last season, so I have lots of Glint to spend in chests this season, though I still need to deplete my Energy so I can use my Glint to buy Chests.
| SPS Rental | 2,317.002 DEC |
|---|---|
| Card Rental | 31,375.200 DEC |
| Tournament Fees | 2,000 DEC |
| Fortune Pass | 250 DEC |
| Total Cost | 35,942.202 DEC |
| Glint Purchase |
As for my rental cost, my total expenses this season were 35,942.202 DEC or about $ 18.75$. It was a lot lower compared to the last season. And if we deduct it from my SPS earnings, I will be left with around $ 5.78 in earnings.

CA Reward and Extra Set Progress
Once again, using the site splinterhub.com, we now have an easier way to monitor the progress of our CA reward cards, though this does not include the Extra set, so that will be manually monitored. And for this season, I finally completed 73% of my common cards from the previous 57%, with all of my common cards at least level 8, and I even have my first max level common card with Phlegmor. My rare collection on the other hand, has just reach 61% completion, and my epic collection slightly increased to 23% with 4 of the cards at level 3, as well as my Legendary collection at 9% completion.

As for my Extra collection, the biggest improvement is that I now have my Hrolfa at level 2 which increases its damage by 1, making it more useful.

Closing
And that was it for the last season's recap. Even when I am just playing the game casually, I still managed to properly compete in the highest league. With all the new stuff added before last season ends, I still have lots of things to write, and I was hoping to write consistently this week.
Thank you, and see you on the next post!

One of the very few posts written in coherent English and without all those annoying AI images on the cover! Well done 🤣
You mentioned you're using SPS rentals. How do you weigh the pros and cons of renting?
How much do you have staked and how much do you rent?
I have Bronze level cards and I'm debating wether or not I should rent some extra SPS to boost my Glint and SPS multipliers but it seems to me that even if I double or triple my staked SPS there's still not much of an incentive. How do you make it work?
I had about 20k SPS owned, which is not nearly enough when playing in Diamond-Champion league, so I rent around 100- 300k more defending in my league and rating. The pros of renting SPS, of course, are to give you higher sps and glint multiplier, and you can also unstake your own sps without hurting your rewards. Cons is it may take some time for your SPS request to get filled, unless you pay for a higher price that will allow your request to be quickly filled.
If I remember correctly, 50k sps is enough for a bronze account to have x10 sps boost even when playing at silver rating. I do not know how much rewards you get on that, so I can't really say how it will work for you.
Right now I'm in Gold III with 13k SPS staked and 7k rented, for a total of 20k SPS and I'm getting a 9,7 multiplier but I don't think there's much of a point in renting since it's quite a steep curve and the amount of SPS I'd need to get in order to have a significant multiplier increase gets exponentially higher.
