A High Voltage Land Partnership

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

Just recently, Splinterlands has shared a post about a new partnership that is currently in the works. This was already teased in the latest town hall, but the post has now shared more information about it. It was a partnership with the Electronium Blockchain, which mainly focuses on the land side of things rather than the ranked gameplay.

In this post, I want to dive into the specifics of this partnership and share my thoughts about it.

Electroneum x Splinterlands Voltage Event

Electroneum is a Layer 1 EVM-compatible blockchain, which means that they run their own validators and security models that allow faster transactions and lower costs, but are still able to support Ethereum smart contracts, tools, and wallets. And for this Splinterlands partnership, the target was to roll it out before summer, which apparently will allow players to mine Electronium through land by staking the event card that players will eventually be able to purchase only through Credits. I guess that is to make sure that the card will be purchased for the exact dollar value, as the team will use the proceeds of the card to buy more ETN that will be added to the reward pool.

Through that, players will be able to earn an EVP or Electroneum Voltage Points, which they can then use to buy reward chests in the shop with the following rarity and costs:

Chest TypeEVP Costs
Minor Chest300 EVP
Major Chest1,000 EVP
Ultimate Chest3.500 EVP
Omega Chest10,000 EVP

I'm assuming that this will be a separate chest from what we have in the Glit Shop, given that it got an Omega chest included, and for the rewards, the only information we had is that there will be $20,000 worth of ETN that will be available at launch. That was not the only content of the chest because premium copies of the card will also be included on it, but whether they will also include the same stuff inside the reward chest in the Glint shop, or they will add new items to it, is currently unknown.

ElectroFox For Both Ranked and Land Gameplay

double-faced-cards.gif

In order to participate in this event partnership, players will need to get a copy of Electrofox, which is a double-faced card that can be used both in ranked gameplay and on land. In land, it is required to mine EVP, and only one plot per account can be used to mine. This is what I think to be an anti-whale measure, so that huge landholders cannot mine the entirety of the rewards, though it does not necessarily mean that they cannot use alt accounts to mine rewards. But that means that even players with a single running plot will be able to participate on the event and has equal chance to get rewards to large land holders.

Of course, since this was a partnership, Electroneum users will also be likely to participate in this event, and to make it easy for them, Splinterlands will also offer packages that will allow them to get into land gameplay. This options were:

  • A La Carte
  • Base Bundle
  • Premium Bundle

What I'm guessing to be the content of this bundle will be land, obviously for them to stake the card, Time Crystal, to speed up the construction of the worksite. maybe cards with different rarity to fill other worker slots, the event card, grains for harvesting, and either DEC or Land cards for DEC Staking.

Depending on the card's level, the amount of EVP that can be mined in the land will vary. For regular foil cards, this will be the EVP rate/hour for each level. There will also be premium cards but their EVP rate/hour was currently not specified.

Card LevelBCXEVP/hour
115 EVP/hour
2315 EVP/hour
3630 EVP/hour
41160 EVP/hour

Aside from land gameplay, Electrofox can also be used for ranked gameplay. Some scenario that I think that can happen is when a player luckily gets a gold foil version of the card and use that instead to mine in land and use the regular copy for ranked, which has the following abilities.

With Opportunity, it can target the opponent unit that has the least health, and with Inspire, it can inflict up to 5 melee damage. It also has Amplify, which increases the reflected damage by 1. It has the downside of having Electrified that will inflict -1 damage on all ally units each round but with it the card will gain +1 damage through the effects of Painforge

As for its mint distribution, the card has very small mint population, with only 2,500 regular foils, which is only equivalent to 227 max copies and 30 gold foil cards that can only create 7 max copies of the card. Aside from that, there will be 5 Black Foil, 3 Gold Foil Arcane and 1 Black Foil Arcane copies of the card that along with the Gold foil, can only be obtained trough the chest.

Closing

Overall, I love the idea of this partnership. Not only that it was adding more utility on the land, it can also potentially help in introducing other people from other chain into the game, and that may also extend through Hive.

Thank you, and see you on the next post!
