Can a Verse Hide a Secret? Peeling Back the Layers of "Backdoor"

Bonjour, readers!
How many of you here know what a cryptic poem is? Well, aside from writing standard poetry, I love diving into the cryptic style especially when I want the true meaning of my words to remain beautifully hidden.

Presented here are three of my completed works, which I intend to release in physical print. Featured in the picture are their finalized cover designs. Notably, the center volume, "Ciphers in the Margin," serves as an anthology of my cryptic poems, bringing together verses woven with hidden meanings and intricate symbolism.

For a bit of context, cryptic poems are wrapped in mystery. They aren't meant to be understood at a first glance; instead, they are woven with deep symbolism to keep the core message private. However, because I happen to be in a wonderful mood today, I’ve decided to give you a little glimpse behind the curtain of one of my pieces.

Without further ado, here is "Backdoor":

A Glimpse into the Meaning

Most of us use the term "backdoor" to symbolize an indirect, hidden passage, or an unconventional way into a space. In this poem, I use that concept with a personal twist. For me, the "backdoor" represents a connection to someone I only came to know through an unexpected route: his parents.

While I already knew him by name, I didn't truly know him. But in an unexpected turn of events, his parents became close friends of mine and ultimately introduced us. Yet, even with an open door, a quiet hesitation crept in. The stark gap in our financial status made me hesitant to step any closer. Even though they are incredibly warm and friendly, they are visibly well-off, leaving me with that lingering, heavy feeling of being completely out of his league.

That’s just a little piece of the story behind the verses. I wanted to share this side of my writing journey with you all.

What do you think, guys? Should I take the leap and publish this physically? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
