Fiction: Prompt- The Lie

In Abuja airport, at the checking point, there was chaos between security officers and Mr. Samson. Everyone else remains calm. Tension erupted everywhere.

Before this incident happened, Mr. Samson immediately got to the airport. He met with one smart man in a black shirt who carried the same-designed colour bag that Mr. Samson carried. But when they approached the checkpoint, that man put some cash on top of the bag and opened it slightly for anyone to see as if it was only money inside the bag and he was flanked by Mr. Samson. Later, he dropped the bag in his hand and stepped away from Mr. Samson. This man was looking for the person who could help him carry the bag past the security checkpoint.

Nevertheless, Mr. Samson spotted cash inside it, so he just dropped the bag he was carrying and picked up the one on the floor. When the man who owns the bag noticed that Mr. Samson had dropped his bag and picked up the one that contained contraband items. The man in the black shirt didn't bother again just carried Mr. Samson’s bag and moved forward toward the checkpoint. Both of them went straight to the checking point area. But when they got there, security detained Mr. Samson for illegal possession of contraband items and freed the man in a black shirt.

Security took him away from the checkpoint to the investigation room. When asking him where did it get items in his bag. Mr. Samson said that it is my money. I am going on a business trip. Security asked him one more time. Are you sure that you are the owner of this luggage? “Mr. Samson said yes! The bag is mine.”

Immediately, they consulted his brother who also expected him to come. Mr. Samson was charged with the possession of hard drugs. And it was in court that Mr. Samson realized that he had made a great mistake. He confessed that the bag was not his own and it belonged to the person security cleared before him. But security told him, we asked you and you told us that the bag belonged to you.

“Mr. Samson argued further, it's a lie when I told you that I am the owner of the bag. Please 🙏,”

“Meanwhile, before Mr. Samson left home, he was told not to assist anyone with luggage at the airport. If anyone asks for help, just mute or refer him/her to the security officers in charge of the airport. Please, be careful about what I am telling you so that you will not be in trouble. That was a warning from his elder brother that invited him abroad.”

However, the court sentenced Mr. Samson for the illegal possession of hard drugs and he also put his brother who invited him to come abroad in trouble.
