“To the Rescue” - when social masks flew off
USA, 2025, thriller, director: Sam Raimi, starring: Rachel McAdams, Dylan O’Brien, Adil Ismail.
When you're stuck on a deserted island, all the fake stuff people do to fit in just melts away. We go back to being what we really are - animals trying to survive. Lots of books and movies have been made about this, but one that really gets it right is "Lord of the Flies" by William Golding. It's a pretty wild ride, with some really cruel moments that might make you feel like you're losing your mind. Some parts might even seem a bit over-the-top, but it does a great job of showing how quickly people can lose their sense of right and wrong when they're fighting to stay alive.
So, a sharp conflict unfolds between an ambitious employee and her self-confident boss. She was counting on a promotion, but her new young boss gave her position to someone else. Suddenly, she has the opportunity to take revenge on her boss for the injustice and devaluation of her work.
Fate brings them together on a deserted island after a plane crash during a flight to Bangkok. Now social status does not matter, and Linda, an experienced fan of survival shows, takes power into her own hands, turning her former boss into her puppet.
Linda and her old boss are both haunted by the ghosts of their past, carrying around the heavy weight of psychological trauma. But instead of making them stronger, it's made them harder and more cruel. Back in the office, Bradley used his power to get what he wanted, while Linda bottled up her anger and resentment for years. Now, stuck on a deserted island, she's finally letting it all out. They're playing a twisted game of cat and mouse, where it's getting harder to tell who's the real villain. The lines between good and evil are getting blurry, and it's almost impossible to figure out what's real and what's not.
