A 7 meses de la devastación de Melissa/ 7 months after the devastation of Melissa
Buenas tardes, Hive.
El 1 de junio empezó oficialmente la temporada ciclónica en Cuba. A unos 7 meses del paso del huracán Melissa (tocó Cuba con Categoría 3), a finales del mes de octubre de 2025 por la costa sur del oriente cubano, aún no se recuperan del todo las áreas afectadas.
Fue una noche dura; para las personas que no están acostumbradas al ruido de un mar furioso, es aún más difícil dormir.
Olas de más de 4 metros normalmente, pero que cuando rompían, superaban los 10 metros.
Aquí les comparto algunas imágenes de mi autoría de aquel entonces, del estrago que hizo en la playa donde vivo.
Una vegetación abundante de uvas de caleta y cocoteros, que proporcionaba sombra a los visitantes, fue arrasada, dejando la playa al desnudo. Rocas muy grandes extraídas del lecho marino y depositadas a lo largo de la costa fueron parte del panorama.
Instalaciones que funcionaban como restaurantes muy cercanas a la costa quedaron igualmente devastadas.

On June 1st, the hurricane season officially began in Cuba. About 7 months after Hurricane Melissa ( hit Cuba as a Category 3) swept through the southern coast of eastern Cuba at the end of October 2025, the affected areas have still not fully recovered.
It was a rough night; for people who aren't used to the sound of a raging sea, sleeping is even harder. Waves were normally over 4 meters high, but when they broke, they exceeded 10 meters.
Here I share some images of my own authorship from that time, showing the damage it caused to the beach where I live.
The once abundant vegetation of seagrapes and coconut trees, which provided shade to visitors, was wiped out, leaving the beach bare. Huge rocks torn from the seabed and washed up along the coastline were part of the scenery.
Facilities that used to operate as restaurants very close to the coast were equally devastated.

STOPEra un Huracan de acta magnitud categoria 5 q acabo en Jamaica ,lo q gracias al señor q no nos abandono al pueblo cubana y no paso con esa magnitud ,paso con categoria 3 asi de todas forma hubo muchos daños en la zona de Guamá q todavia es la actualidad y ahi familia sin hogar q no se han podido recuperar

Asi fue amigo. Y 12 años Antes,en el mismo mes de Octubre en la noche del 25 pasi casi por el mismo lugar el Huracan Sandy, y fue tambien terriblemente devastador. Como usted die ojala nunca mas ocurra. Saludos desde Cuba.
