Just Words and I’ll Do It Later | Reflections in My Private Space (En–Es)

“Actions, not words, make a difference.”

(Anne-Marie Duff - Violet Mille)

I’m taking a little trip to visit the communities on #Hive, and this time I’ve landed on ##ThoughtfulDailyPost. I’m leaving you a shower of blessings and my reflections. Remember to be grateful for life and enjoy the here and now. It’s no good to talk a lot and not take action, or to put things off until later. After all, we don’t know if there’s a “later” for us. Life can end in a matter of minutes.

Smile at life!

(Anne-Marie Duff - Violet Mille)

In every tear and smile, I carry a part of myself and of who I am. Sometimes people tell me I can’t bury my head in the sand when negative events occur. That’s not it—I just don’t think it’s worth continuing to dwell on the negative situation. Of course, I do look for solutions, collaborate, and offer help where it’s needed. It’s worth noting that the planet is undergoing many changes, and we’re going through them alongside it. Above all, there’s a diversity of opinions; it’s normal for each person to choose the perspective that suits them best.

Despite everything, some people have shown courage when it’s necessary to come together to counteract negativity and take action in the wake of a tragedy. They are capable of offering their support and coming together in the face of adversity. This is very important because, as my sister Eli says, “There are more of us good people.” For this reason, I know that humanity has the chance to survive despite the “setbacks” that life throws at us—the ones that break us inside and make it hard to breathe.

Some people are still unaware of the inevitable collapse and the magnitude of future events—events caused by humanity itself. However, there is no time to complain, and we must take steps within our communities to stay vigilant for future events—such as keeping a whistle in a visible place. We must leave behind protocols that are nothing but empty words and are, at this point, completely useless. We must take action. For life slips away in seconds, sweeping everything away with it: material possessions, loved ones, friends, and family.

We are left empty-handed and broken. In these moments of introspection following the events in Venezuela, I realize that I’ve wasted a lot of time without understanding that I have no time. I let people slip out of my life without saying goodbye or even a farewell. I walked away suddenly, without cause or reason. Perhaps out of pride or because I thought I was indispensable. I also let opportunities slip by. But I still believe those were the right decisions, and I don’t regret anything I’ve experienced.

Despite my gloomy days, I’ve also enjoyed time with my loved ones. These past few days, anxiety and uncertainty have taken a toll on me; I can’t sleep and I’m constantly on edge. The news comes and goes. The situation unfolding in Venezuela is the focus of my reflections; I think of those people who lost their lives and perhaps weren’t able to say goodbye to their loved ones because they put everything off until tomorrow. They probably didn’t express their feelings and prioritized work and success over their families.

Venezuela is a country of dreams, of good and noble people, capable of taking action and offering support when it’s needed. I know that together we will emerge from this tragedy. I believe that from this day forward, Venezuelans will no longer allow themselves to be “duped.” Some have removed the blindfolds from their eyes. I also know that we will rise from the ashes like the phoenix, with great expectations and hopes for the future. Above all, with great faith in Almighty God.

Venezuelans showed that time is sometimes our worst enemy and that there are situations where we must act and not wait. After all, many terrible things can happen to people in just forty-eight hours of waiting. They sprang into action and acted quickly, helping one another. United, working as a team, and hand in hand to save lives: families, friends, neighbors, communities, and rescue workers from all over the world. Each person has given their all to the search.

To all of them goes my message of gratitude and brotherhood, for they demonstrated that there are no borders, races, or languages when human beings come together for the common good. As Mother Teresa of Calcutta said: “Sometimes we feel that what we do is just a drop in the ocean, but the ocean would be much less if it were missing a single drop.”

I’ll leave you with that!

Sometimes you want to wake up from a dream or nightmare you don’t like, but it’s impossible. That’s what’s happening to me—I feel like I’m in the middle of a nightmare. My heart weeps for the souls who left this world without a chance to be heard and for the missing who are still buried under the rubble. As a Venezuelan, I’ve been overcome with sadness since June 24. My beautiful Venezuela! What will become of you? What other trials must you endure?

Ever since the earthquakes, I’ve been reflecting on life—that life we so often fail to enjoy because of our many responsibilities and the stress of everyday life. When my son came to tell me the news, I saw my entire life flash before my eyes—who I was and who I am. I waited nervously for the aftershocks. I’ve gone days without sleep; I wake up in the darkness of the night and pray. I ask my Almighty God for the people who have passed away and left a void in the hearts of their loved ones.

My thoughts are on how fragile we humans are, and that there’s no point in accumulating material possessions if we’re not able to ask for forgiveness, to say “I love you” and “I miss you.” Life is fleeting, regardless of social status. There’s no point in blaming one another. For me, it’s important to be grateful and at peace when my time comes to leave this planet. In that way, we reconnect with ourselves and with our loved ones.

We all have a mission on Earth, and we must find a way to fulfill it—to become better people and show empathy toward our surroundings and nature. We must keep in mind that life slips through our fingers, and some people do nothing to love, to live, or to help others. Life slips away for them in mere words, as they put everything off until later. In any case, these are my own, very personal thoughts. This isn’t a scolding, nor is it meant to motivate; it’s simply how I feel.

Today, Venezuela needs support—the same kind of support that any of us might need one day. It’s important to pay attention, because we don’t know what the future holds. I invite you to participate and contribute to relief efforts for earthquake survivors—in whatever way you choose and to the best of your ability.

Venezuela needs you today—it needs your actions, not just your words.

I invite you to make sure life isn’t “just words” and a “later,” because you might not have time for a later. It’s today… it’s today that you should live, because later: the earth might shake, you might catch a cold, or you might even choke on water—and it’s all over in a second.

A big hug, and thanks for visiting my blog on #Hive.

@mafalda2018...

I must apologize for not getting back to you until now! I always enjoy your posts and your visits. I know you have always tried to reply to others who post in the community; it's not easy now, as there has been a lack of creations that don't always fit in the basket of thoughtfulness. But despite all this. I still do read every post... even if I don't always reply or curate. There are so many folks on our blockchain who are facing these trying times. I have chatted with @sirenahippie about this very topic. My dear friend @crrdlx has also chimed in with his feelings. Even @sayury has asked where to post about the constant battles in Venezuela. I am not able to share rewards of a high monetary value. I do believe one of the most important rewards is human interaction. You share this same mindset in the way you create your awesome content... thank you for being you! In closing, I wanted to share these powerful words you created:

Sometimes life hits us hard, and we’re left with nothing, looking around in confusion. My thoughts are on the tragedy that has struck my country and everything it has caused. Life will never be the same for us Venezuelans. Over the last two days, there have been earthquakes in the eastern part of the country, where I live, and I’m very nervous and can’t sleep.
There are many stories of survivors that have made me think. One moment we’re here, and the next, our lives are over—as I always say, “the breeze comes suddenly and blows out the light.” I think we need to break the bad habit of putting everything off until “later.” We have to take action, pursue our dreams, and work toward our goals. It’s hard to say this, my friend @wesphilbin , but many dreams were left buried under the rubble, and this has made a huge impression on me. Above all, there’s no point in talking so much and not taking action.
As for the community, from my point of view, I think interaction matters more—regardless of the value of a vote. Everything is going to get better on #Hive.
A hug of light for you and the whole team that supports you, @wesphilbin and thank you for your support.

@mafalda2018...

I hope you know how very sorry I am that things are going the way they are. I agree... sometimes talk is cheap. Actions speak volumes, etc... Just know I appreciate your words and choosing to post in my community or use the TAG. This certainly constitutes as a @topcomment !
