Family & Friends - Catching up with my loved ones and family gatherings: there is always a good reason to get together. / Poniéndome al día con mis seres queridos y con las reuniones familiares: nunca falta un buen motivo para reunirse. 😃❤️

Without a doubt, one of the best parts of a long journey is being able to return home and reunite with loved ones. Lately, I spent a lot of time away from home, discovering wonderful places and meeting amazing people, but always missing my family. That is why, once I returned to my city and finally settled into the job I had been looking for, I took the opportunity to catch up with everyone. Now that I am formally employed, weekends have become a special time to rest a little and go out a bit as well, so I spend them enjoying a combination of both 😃.

Sin dudas una de las mejores partes de un largo viaje, es poder volver a casa a reunirse con los seres queridos. En el último tiempo pasé mucho tiempo fuera de casa, descubriendo lugares maravillosos y conociendo personas geniales, pero siempre extrañando a mi familia. Fue por eso que una vez que volví mi ciudad y finalmente me asenté con el trabajo que estaba buscando, aproveché para ponerme al día con todos. Ahora que soy una trabajadora formal, los fines de semana son el momento especial para descansar un poco y pasear otro tanto, así que los paso con una combinación de ambos 😃.

During the first month after starting my new job, I was very stressed. Reconnecting with my professional side was quite a challenge, especially combined with the anxiety of wanting to learn everything in such a short amount of time. Those weeks felt endless and exhausting, so whenever a weekend plan came up that involved going out a little to clear my mind, I took advantage of it. I also had many people I wanted to visit, so having things to do was the one thing I never lacked.

Durante el primer mes que empecé con el trabajo nuevo estuve muy estresada. Volver a reunirme con mi lado profesional fue todo un desafío, sumado a la ansiedad que me daba querer aprender todo el poco tiempo. Esas semanas se volvieron eternas y agotadoras, por lo que cada fin de semana que surgía algún plan que implicara salir un poco a despejarme, lo aprovechaba. También tenía mucha gente a la que quería visitar, así que cosas para hacer era lo que menos me faltaba.

One of the things I missed the most was going out with my younger sister. Our favorite outing together is going to a shopping mall, buying a few little things, and ending the day eating some junk food. By then, I had already become a working woman with a salary, so I didn’t feel bad about spending money on whatever I wanted. At the same time, I congratulated myself for all the effort I had been putting in.

Una de las cosas que más extrañaba era salir a pasear con mi hermana más chicas. Con ella, nuestra salida preferida es ir a pasear a algún shopping, comprar algunas cositas y terminar comiendo algo de comida chatarra. Como para entonces ya me había convertido en una trabajadora con un sueldo, no me daba pena gastar en cualquier cosa. De paso, me felicitaba a mí misma por todo el esfuerzo que estaba haciendo.

Of course, my other sister was also on the list of people I wanted to visit. One of the events I shared with her was her little dog’s birthday. In my family there are many children, but my sister does not have “human” kids, so over the years we have celebrated her pets’ birthdays instead. Honestly, any excuse is a good one to get together and share a nice moment.

Por supuesto que mi otra hermana también estaba en mi lista de personas que quería visitar. Uno de los eventos que compartí con ella fue el cumpleaños de su perrita. En mi familia hay muchos niños, pero mi hermana no tiene hijos "humanos", así que en todo este tiempo festejamos los cumpleaños de sus mascotas. En realidad, cualquier excusa es buena para juntarse a compartir un buen momento.

During this past period, I also had the opportunity to celebrate the birthdays of my youngest nieces (well, they are actually my cousins’ daughters, but to keep things simple, we call them “nieces”). Since they are the youngest members of the family, I missed other important moments in their lives, such as baptisms or first days of school, but now that I am not planning to travel far away anytime soon, I will be around as much as I can. I enjoy spending quality time with my nieces and nephews, and since there are quite a lot of them, there are plenty of opportunities to share moments together.

Dentro de este último tiempo también tuve la oportunidad de compartir los cumpleaños de mis sobrinas más pequeñas (bueno, son hijas de mis primas, pero para simplificar decimos "sobrinas"). Como son las más pequeñas de la familia, me perdí otros momentos de sus vidas como bautismos o primeros días de clase, pero ahora que ya no tengo planeado viajar lejos a la brevedad, voy a estar lo más que pueda. Me gusta pasar buen tiempo con mis sobrinos, y son bastantes, así que hay muchas oportunidades para compartir tiempo con ellos.

Now that my routine has changed because of my new job, many things have changed for me as well. I would not say that my days are better or worse than before, just different. What matters is that I never miss the opportunity to enjoy myself, whether through an unusual outing or a special moment with my loved ones. I was happy to be present at all of these events, and everyone was surprised to see me after being away for so long — the good thing is that they had all missed me 😅.

Ahora que mi rutina cambió debido a mi nuevo trabajo, muchas cosas cambiaron para mí. No diría que mis días son mejores o peores que antes, sino que son diferentes. Lo importante es que nunca me pierdo la oportunidad de pasarla bien, ya sea con algún paseo fuera de lo común, o con algún momento especial con mis seres queridos. Me gustó estar presente en todos estos eventos, y todos se sorprendieron con mi presencia después de tanta ausencia: lo bueno es que todos me habían extrañado 😅,
