It seems that as you get older, it becomes harder to organize something with your friends. Everyone has their own routines, work schedules, and responsibilities, and coordinating everything so that everyone has free time at the same moment can feel difficult. Fortunately, it is not impossible, and with enough planning in advance, there is even room to organize a small trip. That is exactly what my friends and I did during one of the long weekends we get every month in Argentina. We took the opportunity to travel a little farther from home, explore somewhere new, and disconnect from our daily commitments for a while 😃.

Pareciera que a medida que vas creciendo, es más complicado organizar algo para reunirte con tus amigos. Todos tienen sus rutinas, sus horarios de trabajo, sus cosas que hacer, y coordinar todo como para tener tiempo libre al mismo tiempo se ve difícil. Pero por suerte no es imposible, y si se hace con la suficiente anticipación, hasta se puede tener lugar para planear un pequeño viaje. Eso fue lo que hicimos mis amigas y yo en uno de los fines de semana largos que tenemos por mes en Argentina, en donde aprovechamos para pasear un poco más allá y desconectar un poco de los compromisos diarios 😃.

With my current job, I have very little free time during the week, but I do have Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays off. That is why whenever a three-day weekend is approaching, I am already thinking about where I can go. One of these long weekends happened to coincide with the birthday of Sofía, my best friend, and for her birthday gift, she wanted us to go on a trip together. Since my other friends have the same work schedule as I do, we put together our little group of four, bought our tickets, rented an apartment, and set off on a small adventure.

Con mi trabajo actual tengo muy poco tiempo libre en la semana, pero tengo libres los sábados, domingos y días feriados. Es por eso que cada vez que un fin de semana de 3 días se acerca, ya estoy pensando a donde puedo ir. Uno de estos fines de semana largo coincidía con el cumpleaños de Sofía, mi mejor amiga, y como regalo de cumpleaños quiso que hagamos un paseo. Como mis otras amigas también tienen el mismo esquema laboral que yo, armamos nuestro pequeño grupo de cuatro, compramos pasajes, alquilamos un departamento y nos fuimos a pasear un poco.

As you know, Argentina has countless beautiful places to visit, but unfortunately, three days off is not enough time to travel too far from home. Still, there are plenty of lovely destinations relatively close by, including places outside the Province of Buenos Aires. The destination we chose to celebrate the birthday was the city of Colón, in Entre Ríos, which took us about five hours to reach by bus. My friends traveled overnight, while I traveled alone very early in the morning because of my work schedule, but by Saturday at noon, we had all arrived and were finally together.

Como saben, Argentina tiene un montón de lugares hermosos para conocer, pero lamentablemente 3 días libres es poco como para ir tan lejos de casa. Sin embargo, relativamente cerca también tenemos lugares lindos para ir, que incluyen salir de la provincia de Buenos Aires. El lugar que elegimos para ir a celebrar el cumpleaños fue la ciudad de Colón, en Entre Ríos, que nos tomó unas 5 horas de bus. Ellas viajaron por la noche y yo sola muy temprano en la mañana debido a mi horario de trabajo, pero para el sábado al mediodía ya estábamos todas allá.

We chose the city of Colón as the destination for this trip not only because it was nearby, but also because of how beautiful it is. Located on the banks of the Uruguay River, it is a small and peaceful city, with a large thermal park as its main attraction. We had read that Sunday would be the best day to visit the hot springs, so on Saturday we took the opportunity to relax by the river, do some shopping, and celebrate my friend Sofía’s birthday in the evening. It turned out to be a wonderful day.

Elegimos la ciudad de Colón como destino de este paseo, no solo por lo cerca, sino también por lo linda que es. Se ubica a orillas del río Uruguay, es una ciudad pequeña y tranquila, y tiene un gran parque termal como atractivo principal. Habíamos leído que el mejor día para ir a las termas sería el domingo, así que el sábado aprovechamos para descansar junto al río, hacer algunas compras y celebrar el cumpleaños de mi amiga Sofía por la noche. Fue un día genial.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I now work in a meat processing plant, and for hygiene reasons inside the factory, I always have to wear the same white uniform. I cannot wear makeup, accessories, or even perfume, so over time I have had to become comfortable with a more natural version of my appearance. But whenever the weekend arrives, I take the opportunity to dress up as much as I can and wear my favorite outfits. Wearing a uniform is great because it prevents you from ruining your own clothes, but after several days of wearing the same thing, I end up missing my regular style.

Como les he contado en publicaciones anteriores, yo ahora trabajo en un frigorífico y por cuestiones de higiene en la fábrica, siempre tengo que usar la misma ropa blanca. No puedo usar nada de maquillaje, accesorios y ni siquiera perfume, por lo que en este tiempo tuve que amigarme a lo natural de mi aspecto. Pero cada vez que llega el fin de semana, aprovecho para arreglarme lo más que pueda y usar mi ropa linda de salir. Trabajar con uniforme es bueno porque no arruinas tu propia ropa, pero después de varios días usándolo, termino extrañando mis outfits normales.

To finish celebrating the birthday, my friends and I went to a bar in the city center. Our apartment was very close to downtown, so we were even able to walk there. What I like about Colón is how peaceful it is. This was the second time I visited, but during my first trip I hadn’t had the chance to go to a bar. Now that I’m a working adult with a salary, I was able to enjoy as many cocktails as I wanted, surrounded by great company.

Para terminar de festejar el cumpleaños, mis amigas y yo fuimos a un bar del centro de la ciudad. Nuestro departamento quedaba muy cerca del centro, así que hasta pudimos ir caminando. Lo que me gusta de Colón es lo tranquilo que es: esta fue la segunda vez que fui, pero en la primera no había tenido la oportunidad de ir a un bar. Ahora que soy un adulto con sueldo, pude ir a tomarme todos los tragos que quise y con muy buena compañía.

Spending this weekend with my friends was a great way to disconnect from the routine for a while and celebrate our friendship. Sofía is my best friend, and we have shared so much throughout these nearly 15 years of knowing each other. I'm happy that we still have these opportunities to spend time together, share experiences, and create new memories. And, as always, I love traveling, and whenever I have the chance to do it, I’m not going to miss the opportunity.

Pasar este fin de semana con amigas fue muy bueno para desconectar un poco de la rutina y para brindar por nuestra amistad. Sofía es mi mejor amiga y con ella compartimos muchas cosas en estos casi 15 años de conocernos. Me alegra que sigan existiendo estos momentos para compartir cosas juntas y crear nuevos recuerdos. Y como siempre, me encanta viajar y cada vez que pueda hacerlo, no voy a perderme la oportunidad ❤️.
