People Are Getting Ready for Summer, Little by Little

Spring arrives slowly here every year. The atmosphere of both the ocean and the mountains changes little by little. It’s beautiful and enjoyable to notice nature’s shifting expressions. People also begin preparing for summer as spring arrives, because winter returns quickly after these beautiful seasons.

I like taking photos of the countryside and everyday life. It’s very peaceful. Nothing dramatic, but I can see small, adorable moments of human life within the scenery.

This view is simple yet stunning. I can walk along the dike and feel the ocean breathe. When the tide goes out, a vast empty space appears before me. It’s such a lovely moment.

This is another typical countryside scene. As you can see, people have already started preparing firewood for their wood stoves in anticipation of the harsh winter. I love the old-looking shed. You can see the history of people’s lives in it. You can almost read how many times the roof and walls have been repaired. It may be an ordinary scene, but for me, it offers a wonderful perspective for photography.

This is also a classic spring scene in the countryside, as people prepare for the growing season. I can smell the earth and fertilizer. A farmer’s tractor is getting the land ready for planting. Farmers rotate their fields each year, and it seems they’ve chosen to plant vegetables here this time. I wonder what will grow. Potatoes, corn, or something else? It’s fun to imagine.

Back to the ocean. My dog really enjoys walking here. And speaking of spring, there’s one more thing to mention: ticks. They’re like tough little spring monsters. They quickly latch onto dogs and people during walks.

I need to give my dog tick-prevention medicine in early spring, and he’s already had his dose. Luckily, his white fur makes ticks easier to spot. When I visited a hardware store, I even saw a section dedicated to tick control. I guess it’s time to mow our yard soon.

Oh, and kayaking. Another sign of spring and summer here. The river water still looks very cold, but I’ve noticed people starting to get ready for kayaking and canoeing. I’ve tried kayaking before, and it was a wonderful experience. I’d love to go again.

There are also preparations for fishing. My husband loves fishing and has already gotten his license for the season. I don’t fish much myself, but I enjoy cooking when he brings fish home. I also like browsing fishing gear in stores. They’re so colourful and beautiful. Sometimes I even think they could be turned into earrings!

少しずつ夏の準備を始めている人たち

ここでは、春は毎年ゆっくりとやってきます。海と山の空気が少しずつ変わっていくのを感じます。自然の表情の変化に気づくことは、とても美しく、楽しいことです。人々もようやく春が訪れると、もう夏の準備を始めます。この地域では、美しい季節のあとにすぐ冬がやってくるからです。

私は田舎の風景や人々の暮らしを写真に撮るのが好きです。とても穏やかで、特別なことは何もないのですが、その風景の中に人の愛らしい生活が見えてきます。

この景色はとてもシンプルで美しいです。堤防沿いを歩きながら、海が呼吸しているように感じます。潮が引くと、目の前に大きな空間が広がります。その瞬間がとても好きです。

こちらも典型的な田舎の風景です。ご覧の通り、厳しい冬に備えてすでに薪ストーブ用の薪の準備が始まっています。古びた小屋がとても味があって、人の暮らしの歴史が感じられます。屋根や壁が何度も修理されてきたことが伝わってきます。一見すると何気ない風景ですが、私にとってはとても魅力的な撮影のアングルです。

これも春の田舎らしい風景で、夏に向けた準備の光景のひとつです。土や肥料の匂いが漂っています。農家のトラクターが畑を耕し、作物を育てる準備をしています。毎年、畑は休ませながら使われるので、今年はこの畑に野菜を植えることにしたのでしょう。じゃがいもかな？とうもろこし？それとも別のもの？何が育つのか想像するのも楽しい時間です。

海の話に戻ると、ここでの散歩を私の犬もとても楽しんでいます。そして春といえば、もうひとつ大事な話があります。「ダニ」です。彼らはまるで強力な春のモンスターのようで、散歩中に犬や人に素早くついてきます。

毎年春の初めに、ダニ予防の薬を犬に与えています。今春はもうすでに済ませました。幸い、私の犬は白い毛なので、ダニを見つけやすいです。ホームセンターに行くと、ダニ対策のコーナーもありました。そろそろ庭の草刈りもしないといけません。

それから、カヤック。これもこの地域の春から夏の風物詩です。川の水はまだとても冷たそうですが、カヤックやカヌーの準備をしている人たちを見かけるようになりました。以前カヤックをしたことがありますが、とても素敵な体験でした。またやってみたいです。

釣りの準備も始まっています。主人は釣りが大好きで、すでに今シーズンの魚釣り用のライセンスを取得しています。私はあまり釣りはしませんが、魚を持ち帰ってくれたときに料理するのが楽しみです。お店で釣り道具を見るのも好きで、色鮮やかでとてもきれいです。時々、これはピアスになりそうと思ってしまいます。
