Hive Keychain Mobile v2.2
v2.2 is now live on Android and iOS, bringing you no less than four new features! Read on to see what's new!
Onboard your friends!
You can now onboard your friends to Hive within seconds using Keychain mobile Apps.
Here's how it works:
- Your friend downloads Keychain and goes through the onboarding process: Create account > Create with a friend
- They can then choose their username, create their keys, and copy them to store them safely outside of Keychain
- A QR Code containing their public keys will then be generated
- You can then scan this QR Code to get to a confirmation page
- An account creation ticket will be used if available, or the HIVE price of an account creation (currently 3.000 HIVE) otherwise
- You can optionally add an HP or RC delegation
- Once the account is created on your side, your friend will be redirected to Keychain main screen
This process allows one to onboard easily IRL, without having access to the new users' private keys. We hope this will be useful to bring the next generation of Hivers to the chain!
Open Peak Notifications
You can now activate Open Peak Notifications on mobile!
Simply go to Settings > Notifications to opt in.
Note that the activation is account-bound and that if you are already using it on the extension, the same configuration will be shared.
Key change detection
This feature simply compares the keys stored within Keychain with the public keys associated with your account.
If they do not match, you will be asked if you changed the keys yourself, in which case you should update your Keys in Keychain to use your account correctly.
If not, chances are that you are under attack, in which case time is of the essence and you should seek help in the relevant channels.
Vesting routes change detection
Attacks can also be carried out by changing vesting routes, in which case HIVE will be sent to another account when you power down.
The feature works similarly to the key change detection and checks for change every time the App launches. If a change is detected, it will be displayed and you will be asked if the changes were intentional.
About the iOS App
A few points related to the difficulties of getting an update to pass Apple review for blockchain-related Apps:
- it took us many iterations to make them understand that blockchain "accounts" are not web2 accounts and cannot be deleted upon user request, hence the lack of recent updates for Apple users
- we had to disable swaps on iOS, and remove a few dApps from the Ecosystem page. You can still access swaps from the internal browser at https://swapwidget.hive-keychain.com/?username=YOUR_USERNAME
- we discovered a small bug right after passing the review, that causes a crash when navigating out of the in-app browser. It has already been fixed in a new version awaiting Apple review. In the meantime, if you are affected, simply click on the "restart" button on the error page and you will be brought back to the main screen. Sorry for the inconvenience 🙏

Unable to use Keychain.....
I dont know how to get rid of this pop up, it's not disappearing...

Which message I have to tap and I do not see any option to scroll it down......it's really pathetic that Keychain affecting user experience with unsolicited pop-up

I have lot of account creation tickets, so is one of them going to be used ?
And can I do all these in browser extension ? or I need to download the app ? I see the browser extension that I am using does not update on its own ?
Yes it will automatically use one of your tickets.
This feature is only for mobile since it requires scanning a QR Code.
If you installed it from Chrome Store or Firefox Add-Ons Store, it should update on its own.
I see the version as 3.6, last updated on 26 July 2024, is that the latest ? Is this 2.2 release relevant to app only ?

question, as i recall asking but i dont recall what was the answer, who is marked as the onboarder / recovery account? The onboarder or Keychain or some other account provider? i.e. who is paying for the account here? I see the user pays, but are they set as the recovery? I ask since distriator works by paying the recovery account each time the user claims a discount and mines HUSD to their accounts
Oh, paying account recovery by default isn't greatest idea as many accounts can still have "name you don't mention" there. Creator isn't really viable option either as my account wasn't created by anyone but by the blockchain itself.
The default recovery account is the onboarder indeed =)

p2p onboarding feature is great.
Sounds great all news! Especially the new onboarding feature. Some times onboarding can be hard to accomplish.
Did you guys ever thought about using peakd as a tab besides the browser tab and give it a more "native" social app experience?
Although we love PeakD and generally use it to redirect to posts (from notifications or other features), we want to showcase all the dApps of the ecosystem, that's why we created the Ecosystem screen that we show when a new tab is opened.

I miss using peakd with no browser bar. So I use it as pwa installed outside keychain on my mobile.
Consider 5 icons instead of 4.
