I recently started listening to the History of Persia podcast, but there is ample room for more scholarly work. The western world seems to have ignored the region, and little is known to most of ancient history aside from where Persia came into conflict with the Greeks and Romans. As for modern discourse here in the USA, most think history began in 1979 with the Islamic fundamentalist revolution. There is silence about 1953, to say nothing of World Wars I & II, or earlier.
