Recently, at 22 December 2018, the eruption activities of Anak Krakatau (The Son of Krakatoa) Mountain have caused a landslide in the sea which triggered the tsunami that struck Banten and Lampung province. Released by Antara News, 28 Dec 2018, at 1.00 pm Indonesian time, there were about 426 deaths, 23 people missing, 40,386 people who became homeless refugees, 1,296 houses and 78 stores destroyed or heavily damaged. There may even be more victims who have not yet been found and recorded, so the toll may be even higher. But the number of people who died and disappeared was reduced compared to the previous data due to the double records in Pandeglang and Serang Districts.

The chronology of tsunami was estimated due to high waves and underwater landslides due to the eruption that occurred on Mount Anak Krakatau.

December 22, 2018, At 9:03 pm, Indonesia Times (14:03 UTC), Anak Krakatau erupted and damaged the nearest seismographs equipment, even though another station detected continuous vibrations. At 9:27 pm Indonesia Times, Earthquake and Tsunami Center (BMKG) detected a tsunami on the west coast of Banten, even though there were no tectonic events. According to one witness, the loud bang had been heard from the sea.

Monday, December 24, 2018, Head of the Earthquake and Tsunami Center (BMKG) Rahmat Triyono said there were satellite images that captured landslides on the slopes of Mount Anak Krakatau, there were 64 hectares of mountain slopes missing, which caused shocks.

Indonesia Center wants to help reduce the burden of victims of disasters by raising funds and asking all communities and people who join in steem blockchain ecosystem to be able to donate a small number of funds so that we can distribute it to the victims in Banten and Lampung.

Funding Needs

The funds to be collected are in the form of steem which will later be converted into rupiahs according to the prices prevailing at the time the exchange takes place. If steem collected in every two weeks has reached more than 100 steem or at least 1,000,000 rupiahs, the funds will be distributed immediately. There will be a special memo that must be included if you want to immediately send funds to the @indonesia-center wallet and the memo will be different for each crowdfunding campaign.

If the funds collected on 19 January can exceed 100 steem, we will turn the funds into rupiah and distribute it through Aksi Cepat Tanggap (Care For Humanity) organization, and Front Mahasiswa Islam - Bekasi which has now become an Indonesian Center partner in distributing the funds and the refugee's needs. We chose Aksi Cepat Tanggap Organization and Front Mahasiswa Islam - Bekasi through careful consideration because they had a camp near the shelter area.

About Indonesia Center

Indonesia Center is a crowdfunding center for disaster victims based on the Steem Blockchain, and for the Independent Researcher bases, created on 27 December 2018. It was established to support the victims/survivors of the disasters in Indonesia.
