My little hydro garden is thriving, yay!

It's been two weeks since I moved the net cups with lettuce into their grow boxes, and their leaves have developed, and are a lot longer. Their stems a little fatter thicker.

They are growing, albeit a lot slower, in the absence of sunlight. I was so pleased on checking that none of their leaves have been damaged by pests, worms, or even the slugs and snails we often see around here. Thank goodness they didn't touch my greens. I'd be heartbroken if they did.😊

Their roots are now plenty, and are visible around the net cups. With most already reaching the water solution, taking more nutrients in. Although I do wonder what could be different if I had used coco peat instead of compost.

I did test one on a small piece of foam, and it's growing alright just like the others.

I have seen someone doing this method (using propagation foam) and her lettuce are okay, so I guess there's not much of a difference. But we shall observe it and see after a few more weeks.

Meanwhile, the native red onion bulb I had placed on the tub of soil outside has grown fresh sprouts. I was adamant of its survival rate as it was too small, but seeing it this morning proved otherwise. It's quite a joy to watch things grow, even without much care and attention.

Anyway, the sky is still crying hard (raining heavily), and we have a power blackout, so we might be spending the day at the greenhouse while waiting for community advisories. We might need to drive home to BC, or at least take one of the vehicles out just in case the road blockade will push through tonight.

Until then, we keep moving. Staying idle would make us grow older fast and we certainly don't like that to happen😅🤣

Seems like you are doing several experiments with those plants? What's you expected target for those plants?

Keep safe and dry there @ifarmgirl. Btw, are these onion sprouts? Been thinking of going back to gardening again, just like during pandemic. Since I'm now working remotely at home.
