Hive Roulette is live: Roulette on the Hive blockchain

Today Hive Roulette launches, a provably fair roulette app built for Hive built by @beggars.

The goal was to keep the whole thing simple. You pick your bets, the app gives you the exact HIVE amount to send, and that round is tied to the on-chain transfer. If the spin wins, the payout is sent back from the app account. If it loses, the round ends there. No deposit balance, no withdrawal flow, and no internal wallet to keep track of.

Hive Roulette uses a European wheel with a single zero. You can place straight bets, dozens, columns, red or black, odd or even, and low or high. The game itself is familiar if you've played roulette before.

Each spin starts with a quote that includes your bets, the total stake, a unique memo, and a commitment to the server seed. After the transfer is confirmed, the app locks the result to a future Hive block. When that block arrives, the winning number is derived from the committed seed and public chain data, then the seed is revealed so the result can be checked afterward.

That part was important. If I was going to build roulette on Hive, I wanted players to be able to see how a result was produced instead of taking the app’s word for it.

The app is live now at hroulette.app.

If you want to try it, start with a small spin and look through the flow for yourself. This is in beta, so there might be issues and changes made over the coming days/weeks. As the app gets more widely used, the payouts will also be increased. They're intentionally small right now for launch, but will be grown over time as more people hopefully use the app.
