Venezuela needs us!

Yesterday afternoon, two earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela within less than a minute, followed by multiple aftershocks, leaving buildings completely collapsed. Our community is made up of a huge number of Venezuelan Hivers, which is why we are joining this initiative and deeply mourn the pain and loss caused by this situation.

We don’t usually use this channel for this purpose, but on this occasion it is necessary. Part of our team has already sent aid and donations on their own initiative, just as thousands of people in Venezuela and from other countries are doing today. There are people who are homeless, people buried under rubble waiting for help, with no cell service, no electricity, no water, no clothes, no food, and hospitals overwhelmed; we can only be a small part of the solution in the face of such great need.

This campaign is designed to allow anyone who wishes to contribute from abroad to do so via Hiver. Our commitment is to deliver supplies (drinking water, non-perishable food, personal hygiene items, and essential medications) to collection centers in Caracas, and to support the logistics efforts of healthcare workers through Hiver volunteers based in Caracas, Venezuela.

Thank you for your contributions 💜.Your donations are saving the lives of children affected by the twin earthquakes in Venezuela.

A hospital in Caracas was selected, visited, and consulted regarding its needs and priorities. A doctor kindly emphasized the need to provide antibiotics to children hospitalized with multiple injuries resulting from the tragic natural disaster affecting the population. Their families are unable to cover the costs of the long and expensive treatments; just one patient requires at least two doses per day (depending on the severity of the case).

Today, Saturday, June 27, there are 12 children in the pediatric emergency room at Dr. José María Vargas Hospital who require exactly this medication. (Corner of Monte Carmelo and Providencia, San José de Cotiza sector, Libertador municipality, Caracas).

‎The person in the photo who received the donation is a volunteer in logistics and donation reception. She explained that the donation of twelve 1-gram vials of vancomycin ensures one more night’s supply of medication for all the children currently hospitalized. It may seem like a small amount, but it adds up in a nation facing a state of emergency that requires attention to what is important and urgent.

🤝This is the first comment on this campaign's report. We are touched and grateful.
