VPS DDOS

Hi all, the HBIT bot has been in and out recently. The bot is actually fine, but the VPS that I'm using (lnvps.net) has been hit with a DDOS attack off and on for several weeks now.

When the attack is off, things run fine; until it's back. About the time I think the attack is done, it's back. About the time I think it's time to move on, it clears up. I actually tried another VPS service for a while. That didn't work out too well and I wasn't pleased with it.

Either things will clear up or I'll have to try to find another VPS service. I'd ask for some patience here.

I just saw this from yesterday (I hope they don'tgive in to the bullies)...

Dear Customer,

Because the ongoing DDoS attack is becoming more severe, our upstream provider is pressuring us to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

As of August 25, 2025, the attack escalated to over 70 Gbps, along with attacks on the upstream provider's network.

As we have not received information about the reason for this attack, we are asking all of our customers who feel they might be targeted or have received ransom demands to contact us at sales@lnvps.net for assistance in resolving the issue.

For reference, the attack started on July 10, 2025.

If the attack continues, we may be forced to shut down the service.

I think that you have a preference to use VPS (and maybe website) hosting services that also accept Lightning payments. 🤔🧘‍♂️ In that case, !HOPE that you are able to find another one, just in case your existing VPS hosting provider decides to shut down. 🤗😏 !INDEED !PIZZA !HUG

Sad to read about this issue. I hope the server company can find a way to deal with the attack rather than having to shut down. Although in business, sometimes one does have to shut down if there is no alternative.

I !HOPE that we can help @crrdlx fix his two online problems: one is minimizing unwanted use of his LUV bot, and the other is minimizing disruptions in the normal use of his HBIT bot. 🤗

Huh? It's off.

If someone is "using" the LUV bot, that likely means they are including the command along with a bunch of other ! commands and don't even notice its off. Else, why call it? That is to say, they are not using the LUV command as it was intended to be used...which is one of the two main reasons that it's off (pilferage/stealing being the other).

It actually took me and @tydynrain about 23 days to notice that the BEER token tipping bot hasn't been working until now, so we used to use the BEER token tipping command (almost) everyday. 🤯😅 !PIZZA !WEIRD

And here's the latest from the VPS service. One way or another, we'll figure out a solution.

Dear Customer,

Due to the ongoing DDoS in IRE region we cannot guarantee when or if the services will be restored.

We're about to launch some new servers in other regions to remove our dependency on our primary infrastructure.

We would like to apologize again for the poor service provided, this attack is unprecedented and we're doing all we can to restore service.

I wonder how long you have been using that VPS hosting service before such attacks started to happen, and if you already had (good) alternative providers in mind when you used it. 🤔🤓
