Cycling ChitChat – Week 16: Fresh ideas and Highlights

Hey folks,
I’ve been thinking about ways to spice up this initiative post — something that keeps us motivated, gives us new vibes, and helps us grow. Usually, when we’re out on our bikes we just enjoy the ride, training at our own pace and fitness level. But here we’re also sharing content, and an idea that’s been buzzing in my head for a while is about photography.
So, how about this: once the Cycling ChitChat week wraps up, we run a poll with selected photos from your posts, and the winner gets a little prize?
That way, even those posting through #Strava2Hive who are still a bit shy about writing route descriptions can join in. All they’d need to do is mention in the description that their photo is part of our Cycling‑Photography Challenge — and add a short caption for the pic, of course.
Ride it, snap it, share it!
👆
(That this could be the title of that poll)
😄
Easy peasy — just nick the Monomad trick:

I’d like to know what you guys think — drop your thoughts in the comments! Funny thing: one opinion I thought was spot‑on actually changed the name of the initiative. It used to be Sunday ChitChat, and now it’s got a better vibe, right?
Alright, time to give a shout‑out to the posts from these past days! Right after we dropped the Week 15 initiative about the Hell of the North and its riders. Some jumped in, some didn’t — but the cool thing is our community keeps buzzing more and more, and that’s worth a big round of applause.
Getting from blogging to vlogging... sharing my first cycling video! (@nozem01) - So here’s the deal — this guy’s a bit scatter‑brained, but we’ll let him off since the initiative was already rolling… hahaha… we’re always messing around here. The cool bit? We’ve got ourselves a brand‑new influencer! Go check out his vids on YouTube!
Paris, Jr Bloomsday, 20 Mile Ride, Mileage Goals, Gear, Robin Nest - Sunday
(@flemingfarm) - Apart from blue eggs and fresh kit (bib shorts and jerseys), this post — if you peek at it — has something kinda creepy: a pic! And the guy behind it never skips a cycling event.
Cycling Community Weekly Milage Update: Another Bad Weather Week! (@lesmann) - Speaking of photographs, Brutus sometimes shows up in some really good views.
Cycling Chit Chat - This was the post that flipped history’s script! 🤣
From Medellín to Puerto Berrio: 191 km by bike/De Medellín a puerto Berrio 191 km en bicicleta (Eng/Esp) - (@cristianm), we’re with you on your next challenges — this one was awesome!
Lunch Ride 13.82km 48min54sec (@kiwibloke) - Mate, you always drop awesome pics! Love seeing the spots you pedal through — told you that loads of times!
Cycling #ChitChat – Life’s Better on Two Wheels (@nanixxx) - A post that digs into the stories and what fires up the athletes behind the races!
Pollen, Camino, Boy's Dental, PDC, 35 Mile Zone 2 Trainer Ride PR, Sun, Soak, Driving - Thursday (@flemingfarm) - That forest with the sun shining out loud… pure magic! Thanks a ton for all your posts here. You can tell you’re having a blast sharing your rides with us — and that’s awesome. Big shout‑out to your wonderful family!
Right before the getaway (@nanixxx) - All I can say is she loves hanging out here with this crew and enjoying everyone’s company!
Shit Sleep, Spokane Bike Swap, 23.85 Mile Ride, Grilling - Saturday (@flemingfarm) - Some folks are having rough dreams lately. Guess we just need to ride harder — that might fix it, lol
Back on the bicycle (@vesytz) - So happy about your recovery and that you’re enjoying your bike again… your pics are always awesome, and I bet they’ll spark loads of inspiration round here!
My first quick getaway with Citykleta (@nanixxx) - "I feel that this bicycle will soon be competing in La Guayaba", lol… just a joke from one of the lads riding along!
Sunday afternoon ride: Three climbs and some flower fields (@friendlymoose) - Flower fields are spot‑on perfect! Dutch views always blow you away. Looks like our peloton leader is chilling for a few days after those massive climbs. 😁

Hey, I didn’t forget the ChitChat question! Actually sneaked it into one of my posts, haha.
I also kept thinking about the whole debate around equipment and technological advances in sport — the pros and the cons. It’s not just a technical issue anymore, but also a philosophical and ethical one. This could be another post, or maybe part of next week’s initiative. What do you think?
Alright then, here we go!
How far do tech upgrades in sports gear change the game — making it richer or messing it up?
I cheekily used one of @vesytz’s pics for this post’s cover — hope that’s cool! And hey, with the idea we mentioned earlier, your shot could be the cover for the next #CyclingChitChat!

Remember to use the hashtag #CyclingChitChat, and feel free to invite a friend to join in. That will help us connect with more people.

So, I'm away for a week and everyone is gone for a week as well 😐
Here's my entry right before the week ends!
🤗 Thank you!
For this week’s initiative post I gathered the #strava2hive entries I saw in the community… I know you’re right that you cycled more, but they were published in the Exhaust community. I hope that gets sorted out so next week you can take the gold medal. 😁
Oh I don't mind not being on the list 😁
