A Visit to Two New Mothers and a Surprising Pregnancy Myth
Yesterday was a beautiful day as we went to visit two women who had recently welcomed their newborn babies. We went along with gifts for the new mums to celebrate with them.

On our way to the location.
Fortunately for us, both women were staying in the same compound, which made the visits easier and more convenient.
One of the highlights of the visit was watching my son interact with the babies. He was so excited to see those tiny new humans that He kept touching them , kissing them, and smiling.

While visiting the second mother, I noticed that her baby had a lot of rashes all over his body. Naturally, I became curious and asked the mother about it. She told me that the condition was called "Oku Rice." According to her, people believe it happens when a pregnant woman eats too much rice during pregnancy. She also mentioned that she had been advised to bath the baby with rice water as a remedy.

Honestly, that's my first time hearing such.
The baby was so healthy, active and so adorable. The mother proudly told us that the baby weighed 5.4 kg at birth and was delivered naturally. I was so amazed the baby was really big.
We got talking and she was telling me how this pregnancy is different from her previous daughter's own. She said boys pregnancy is more heavy than the girls own.
Well it was a fun way to learn new things , I am still curious about the rice issue.
Personally, I don't know if eating too much rice during pregnancy can actually cause rashes in newborns. From what little I know, baby rashes can happen for many reasons, including heat.
Have you ever heard of "Oku Rice" before? Is it truly linked to eating rice during pregnancy, or is it just one of those traditional beliefs?

I think this is just a myth as I don't see a way where eating too much rice during pregnancy will cause this. There are still some women who didn't eat rice, yet their babies had it.
Bathing the baby with rice water may not be the solution. She'd better seek medical help.
I feel same way too...there should be a medical reason for it.
I didn't want to argue with her because she said the rice water is clearing the rashes.
