Reflect...but do you?

Loads of people talk and write about their personal reflections in respect of the events and experiences that occur around them; their own thoughts, experiences and behaviours also. I see such posts here in this community and certainly in real life it's something I hear people say and discuss often. But I'm not entirely sure many actually carry through with what their reflections indicate they perhaps should.
Reflect...but do you?
Here's the thing... I believe so many people never act on their reflections and subsequent gleenings; it's often just some convenient thought and feeling they have in the moment and when it's time to put the wheels in motion and create some real change they stall.
Yep, change, growth and development can be difficult and it's much easier to stay in whatever reality brings the most comfort. It makes me wonder about why a person would bother to self-reflect at all.
What decisions and paths forward have been created by your own reflections and have you actually taken them on board and initiated change? Have you looked at what's required after a personal reflection and decided it's all too difficult to move forward at all and if so why did you not take ownership? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing but expecting different results and I get the impression many do exactly that, but what about you?
Let me know below if you'd like to comment on your own experiences.

I assume that many people are thinking about HP or crypto prices. So am I. But I came to a different conclusions. Today I did act on my reflections- I bought and powered up some HP. I also gifted a symbolic amount of Hive to another user who is active and is not powering down. I have no idea if any of this will be of any help to Hive. But I believe that it is better to do something than just complain that the price is low.
I have my doubts on the viability of spending money buying Hive to be honest, but only time will tell.
I think for me it's a hard road because reflecting often takes a turn into regret and I know that isn't a place where I want to live. It's a precarious thing trying to toe that line so I can learn, but not fall.
I think the same for many people, I do the same with certain things also but it's in that moment ownership and discipline need to kick in. Not acting in that moment will only open the door to more regrets down the track.
To present a reflection, you undoubtedly have to experience an eventuality that makes you pause, where you evaluate what you've lived thru, and if you are prudent, you take that lesson to apply it from then on.
Although, as you say, it's easier said than done, it's true, but it depends on you. If, knowing where they scare you, you insist on taking the same path where you were scared, it's wise to recognize that, and it's for this reason that many of us take the task of sharing our personal reflections. Interesting post, regards!
Have you ever deferr d action due to it seeming difficult to forge ahead? If so why and if you have managed always to affect change have you found it difficult but of value?
If I take action to make the changes I want to see, it could lead to a felony charge.
Haha, yeah there's that aspect too. I could say the same thing.
So the amount of reflecting I do sometimes amounts to what happens when you put a bunch of mirrors facing each other. Which then leads to a volume of research that leads to an amount of research sometimes but not usually worth the time and effort for the decision in question.
depending on what the situation actually is if someone is trying to rush/force a decision is a very short space of time there is a very high chance that my decision will be to not deal with them then or ever again
And then I'm back in the mirror maze struggling not to endlessly wonder if the decision was in fact the best one (or knowingly a next best one) even allowing for the fact that it was with all the information and resources I had at the time.
Every now and again I wonder what it would be like being one of those people who can just make blissfully ignorant random impulsive decisions and blame literally everyone and everything else but myself when things go screwy.
I don't think I'd be any happier but might be slightly less stressed maybe? ^_^;
I don't think those who are not able to, or choose not to take action in improving their lives are any happier at all, not ultimately anyway. The delusion that things will improve without action runs parallel to the delusion they have that they are happier due to their inaction, lack of ownership and discipline.
I have spent some time trying to get into this headspace (perfectly normal storyteller/roleplayer things I assure you x_x) and...struggle a lot XD I did get told by a bunch of players that I managed to play a cultist (probably an extreme end of this mentality maybe?) really well even though I did have to pause the game momentarily straight after that scene as I'd given myself a headache doing so x_x
I think you're most likely right, because that would then provide a satisfactiry explanation for the headache XD
This hits hard... as someone who have openly written these kinds of reflection before.... looking back, I wasn't able to prepare for unexpected happenings that it made me stall and shift my interests into towards something else.
While it is true that most of us, even though we try to reflect, do not actually take action on the things we've seen and realized within. We take the time to ponder but lacks the effort to change something - reason why we started reflecting firsthand.
But I guess, it's our nature to forget sometimes. I want to think that things happen for a reason. And if it's something so important to you, such as the end result of reflecting, you will for sure do what it takes to turn that realization into something positive.
Do you think you will ever be able to find it within to reflect, find a way forward from that reflection, and then move it forward with action?
Yeah, think most reflections have been followed with action. Maybe not direct and immediate action. Sometimes gradual approach to the desired outcome. Such as when I reflected on my use of tobacco and quitting. It was not an overnight thing. I took gradual steps to stop and did. Diet, same thing.
Yeah, most reflections have action, just not immediate results.
With you, due to your background, ownership and discipline is applied - maybe not immediately but eventually - and you embrace accountability. Many others take the easier path and don't achieve as much because of it. Sure, maybe you don't always get it right, me either, but forward progression happens eventually. Usually.
For sure.
Hey, know things have been crazy for you lately based on previous posts. How ya doing?
Moving forward slowly now, getting a few things ticked off. That was the issue, the inability to actually finalise things as done which meant staying in place. That's not something I like doing, I'm a "move forward" sort of fellow.
We're still in the middle of the situations but able to check a few off here and there.
Thanks for asking.
Slow but sure. Good tho hear things are working out for you.
😉 Hopefully y'all are going well also. It's a weird time all over I reckon.
All is well as can be here. It is weird for sure.
