Being responsible
Over the last few weeks a few friends of mine have been working through some thoughts based around a book by Viktor E Frankl called, Man's search for meaning. If you've not read the book you might like to check it out as there's much to learn from it.
The people I'm talking about have had to do difficult things in life and, as often is the case with such people, remnants remain, scars and other things, and we have found some interesting thoughts - and found out some things about ourselves - based around the book and thoughts and experiences of its author.
I thought I'd share a few quotes from the fellow, Viktor E Frankl, in a post or two.

If I understand this correctly, struggled with this recently myself. With all the chaos in the world I felt overwhelmed for a while. Taking in too much media. But as many here stated, can only control what I can impact. Or in this case what I am responsible for.
Me thinks I should pick up this book.
I think you have the gist of it. So many people are distracted, intentionally and wilfully or unwittingly, away from what is truly important and what matters the most - that is to say, taking the responsibility for it, for thoughts, actions and attitudes and so on...as it's those things that help a person achieve the best results in their lives.
I'm not saying one should ignore everything else, but some perspective is required and one must know what's important and how one can affect their own life. I think that's sort of what Frankl is getting at. As a death camp survivor I can only imagine he focused in on the important and controllable things (like his own attitude).
Anyway, for sure I think you get it...and should grab the book too.
NO doubt being a death camp survivor brought a lot of perspective to life during and after. Yep, already ordered the book. Looking forward to cracking it.

You're basically taking responsibility for your status with that comment, leading to an alternative option on how to spend your time and change that state of mind. Which you know will lead to a betterment. And that despite everything you've been through. Admirable.

In the end of the day only you are responsible for how your life has been spent, it's your responsibility to make the best out of it and of no one else
I agree completely, but so many people want to shift that responsibility, maybe so they can lay blame elsewhere for failures?
Yeah, if you got someone to blame it's easier, you don't even feel guilty with yourself
I think that's a good one to keep in mind when you start thinking about regrets and stuff like that. Especially if it involves another person. You can only control and answer for your own actions.
Control the controllable is a phrase everyone should know and embrace.
You might be shocked, but I totally agree with the quote. I'd even go further, we can only be free by taking responsibility, since otherwise we always depend on the external to serve as an excuse.
On top, I think that it's that kind of negative dependency that prevents us from being happy. In contrast to a positive dependency, one that we chose (like a partner) and hence take responsibility for it, which then also leads to a functioning partnership. Not only in love, but all the time.
Yep, freedom comes with responsibility and I think discipline also; I agree.
