Going With the Rain

There was a heavy rain today, and after it slowed down, I saw an opportunity to take photos of one of my favorite subjects: raindrops on leaves. I always find this kind of scene amazing because the droplets make the leaves look more alive and dramatic. Even the simplest plant can become an interesting subject once the rain touches it.

I also decided to edit these photos in black and white because I wanted to bring out the contrast, texture, and shine of the water drops. Without the colors, the shapes became more noticeable. The small droplets, the shadows between the leaves, and the smooth surfaces all stood out in a different way. It reminded me again why I enjoy monochrome photography so much. It gives ordinary details a stronger mood.

I guess the rainy days have already started, which means I may have more chances to capture scenes like this very soon. It’s something I look forward to because rain changes the atmosphere around us. It may slow down our plans sometimes, but it also creates moments that we can appreciate if we are willing to look closely.

Life is also like that in many ways. We cannot control the weather, the seasons, or even the timing of many things that happen to us. Sometimes we just have to accept the change and go with the flow. Instead of resisting what we cannot control, we can try to find something beautiful in it.

Today, the rain gave me these quiet little moments to capture, and for that, I’m grateful.

Have a good day ahead.
