yes.. unfortunately this is true.. I will make a follow up with more details and some speculation about the possible sources..
One day, these things will be easily trackable with tags and such, and people will get fines for littering...
The ideal use for blockchains is tracking due to immutability. If all manufacturers were to print a micro signature and serial number on anything created, everything could easily be traced.
