From the archive: Favorite photos from Summer of 2022

Lately, I’ve been missing home a lot. And when I say home, I’m talking about my home back in the province. I don’t just miss the place, I miss the people I left behind.

I’m not sure why, but I get emotional whenever I think about the people I left, my friends, and the bond we shared. Because witht them, no matter what happens, and no matter how long we went with our own lives without talking to each other, we could always pick up right where we left off.

It’s different from the friendships I’ve made here in the Metro. Sometimes, they feel too shallow.

Why am I even saying this?

Because these days, I’ve been feeling really lonely here. I mean, I have friends. I spend time with them. But the connection we have isn’t what I’m looking for. I miss genuine conversations. I miss talking for hours about anything and everything. I miss being fully present with people. These days, it feels like we’re just sitting together over coffee while staring at our own phones, as if we’re all living in our own worlds.

Back home, it was the opposite.

With this heavy feeling in my heart, I decided to browse through my google drive archives to look back on the memories I had back home.

And I found these photos I took during the Summer of 2022 which is exactly four years ago. These were taken in May 28, 2022.

An old boat near the coast.

Proud to say I took this photos with my old Vivo phone.

Taking a cup of coffee before exploring the place.

Not to brag, but our province is blessed with beautiful beaches and breathtaking scenery that many local tourists love visiting. These photos were taken at one of those beaches. I still think these are the best shots I had considering I've taken these using my old phone.

A photo with my favorite cousin.

Her boss' dog I forgot the name.

The beach is close to the Trinity Islands, a popular destination for island hopping. At that time, we didn’t have enough time or resources to visit the islands, so we settled for spending the day here.

Maybe it wasn’t the destination that made those moments special. Maybe it was the people I was with, the laughter we shared, and the feeling of being home.

And perhaps that’s what I miss the most.
