Epic fail fishing experience for the first time at the pier of Apatot

One of my most unforgettable and enjoyable moments during my vacation in Ilocos Norte was trying fishing for the first time.

One of my friends loves fishing and he has it as a hobby. I usually am just watching him do his thing whenever he is fishing so one time, during our vacation, I got curious and decided to try it to know what makes him enjoy fishing so much.

On our second day of vacation, we woke up at dusk to make sure we can still see the sunrise at the pier of Apatot.

And look! We were fortunate enough to see the sunrise. It was definitely a refreshing sight.

After taking some photos of the sunrise, we were off to start with the reason why we woke up very early that day. My friend, lent me one of his fishing rods he is not using and he let me set it up.

And because it is my first time doing it, and as a clumsy girl, I hurt my finger and just seconds after blood came out. But I'm too excited for the blood to even matter. I immediately rubbed it on the little fake fish I am going to use as a bait.

After that, I'm all set for fishing!

I had two other friends with me who were just as excited as I was. They were watching and cheering me on.

I didn’t know that waiting for a fish to bite could actually be this exciting. Now I understand why my friend enjoys it so much, even though I’ve never really seen him catch a fish LOL.

Sat on the portable chair we brought because it is tiring to stand while waiting for a fish to bite the bait.

After two and a half hours, there was still no fish in sight. The sun was already getting very hot, so we decided to leave the pier.

It was an epic fail for my first fishing experience, but it was definitely an adventure I will always treasure.

It was disappointing I didn’t catch anything, but it didn’t ruin my day. We still enjoyed the beautiful scenery down the road which is just a few kilometers away from the pier.

We spent time relaxing and ended the morning with some taho, or sweetened soft tofu.

It was a bright morning and truly an unforgettable experience. Overall, my first fishing attempt may have been an epic fail, but the memory is something I will always remember.
