Your Profile Is a Landing Page: The Ten-Minute Setup Checklist
Every comment you leave, every vote you cast, every wave you post turns your username into a link. People click it. What they find in the next three seconds decides whether you gain a follower or a back button. That makes your profile the highest-traffic landing page you never think about and on Ecency it takes about ten minutes to set up properly.

Here is the whole checklist, with the reason behind each item and exactly where it shows up. Everything lives at ecency.com/@yourname/settings once you are signed in.
1. Avatar: the face on everything you do
Your avatar is not a profile decoration. It rides along on every post in every feed, every comment you write, every wave and the hover preview that appears when someone points at your name. It is also the image that shows when your profile link gets shared elsewhere. In other words, it appears in a hundred places your profile page never will.
Pick something recognizable at small sizes: a face, a logo, a simple mark. You can paste an image URL or hit the upload button right in the form and Ecency's free image hosting takes care of the rest. If you skip everything else on this list, do not skip this one. An account with a default avatar reads as an account nobody is home at.
2. Cover image: the banner that sets the tone
The cover is the wide image across the top of your profile page and it also appears in the preview card when people hover over your name on web. It is your one purely atmospheric slot: your workspace, your art, your landscape, your brand colors. A blank cover is not a disaster, but a good one makes the page feel like a destination instead of a form that someone half-filled.
3. Display name: the human-readable you
Usernames on Hive are lowercase and permanent. Your display name is neither and you get up to 30 characters of it. It shows next to your avatar across the app and on ecency.com it leads the page title that search engines and link previews use for your profile. "Maria Chen" or "Pixel Garden Studio" travels better than a bare username, so put your actual name or your project's name here.
4. Bio: 160 characters that work two jobs
The bio field is short on purpose. Those 160 characters show on your profile card and in the hover preview and here is the part most people miss: on ecency.com your bio also becomes the description that search engines and social link previews display for your profile page, word for word. One sentence you type into a settings form ends up being your pitch in search results.
So write it like a pitch, not a shrug. Say what you write about and who it is for. "Weekly deep dives on fermentation, from a home kitchen in Lisbon" beats "just vibing" in every context that field will ever appear in.
5. Location: one line of context
Thirty characters, shown on your profile card and in the hover preview. It does not need to be precise and for privacy it probably should not be. "Lisbon", "Pacific Northwest", or "somewhere on a sailboat" all do the job, which is to make the account feel like a person somewhere real. Fill it in at whatever resolution you are comfortable with.
6. Website: your link out
The website field appears on your profile card and when it is a valid URL it becomes a clickable link. Point it at the thing you most want visitors to find next: your own domain, your portfolio, your shop, your other project. If you have nothing external yet, leave it empty rather than pointing it somewhere stale. A dead link says more than no link.
The part people underestimate: the hover card
On the web app, pointing at any username pops up a compact preview: cover, avatar, display name, bio, location, follower counts and a few stats. That means your profile is being pitched constantly, to readers who never visit the page itself, in threads you commented on weeks ago. Five of the six fields above ride in that card, everything except your website link. Ten minutes of setup keeps working for you in every conversation you have ever joined.
It follows you everywhere
One more reason this is worth doing right: your profile is not stored in Ecency's database. It is written to your Hive account's metadata on-chain, so the same avatar, bio and links show up in any Hive app that reads your account. Saving changes is a signed operation like any other and every signer works: Keychain, HiveSigner, Ecency Keeper, MetaMask with the Hive snap, or your posting key. Set it once and it is yours across the whole ecosystem, the same way your posts are. If that idea is new to you, the post "Own Your Content: Why It Matters in 2026" covers why it matters.
The ten-minute run-through
Upload an avatar that reads at small sizes.
Add a cover image that sets your tone.
Set a display name people can actually say.
Write a 160-character bio that pitches your work.
Add a location at a resolution you are comfortable with.
Link a website only if it is alive and current.
Then hover over your own username and look at the card the way a stranger would. That card is your handshake. Make it a good one at ecency.com.
Sure thing
#bilpcoin #truth # The Absurdity of the Label: A Plea to the Architects of Silence
The Paradox of the Impossible Lie
How can you call the truth "spam"?
It is a question that hangs in the air, heavy with irony, almost painful in its simplicity. You have built your defense on a word, a label, a flick of a button that you hope will bury what cannot be buried. You point to our posts and cry "spam!" as if the repetition of a falsehood could somehow erase the permanence of a fact.
But here is the cruelty of your position: everything we share, you can find on the blockchain.
Every delegation. Every coordinated vote. Every silent transfer of power. Every farmed reward. It is all there, preserved in cryptographic amber, waiting for anyone with the curiosity to look. You are not hiding the truth; you are merely asking the world to ignore what is already written in stone. And stone, as any architect knows, does not respond to labels.
The Confession of the Chain
We all know the fundamental law of this new age: blockchain transactions do not lie. People do.
The ledger has no agenda. It has no public relations team. It has no loyalty to kings or cartels. It simply records. It is the most honest witness in human history, a mirror that reflects not the face you wish to show, but the hands you have used.
When you call our investigations "spam," you are not disputing the data. You are disputing the existence of the data. You are asking the world to believe that the blockchain itself is lying, that the mathematics of the network are somehow conspiring against you. It is a position so absurd that it borders on the tragic.
The Cascading Call
So it is time.
It is time to do the right thing. Not because we are asking. Not because the world is watching. But because the ledger is watching, and the ledger never blinks.
Stop downvoting people.
Stop casting your votes like stones into a quiet pond, hoping the ripples will drown out the voices of those who speak truth. Stop treating the tools of curation as weapons of suppression. Stop pretending that silence is the same as quality.
Tell your whale friends to stop too.
The ones who farm in the shadows. The ones who coordinate in private channels. The ones who believe their concentrated power grants them immunity from consequence. Tell them the stone is watching. Tell them the arithmetic of their extraction is public. Tell them that the legacy they are building is not one of stewardship, but of consumption.
Tell your boss, Blocktrades, to stop too.
The one who holds the strings. The one who controls the delegations. The one who has turned a decentralized promise into a centralized reality. Tell him that the empire he has built is built on sand, and the tide of truth is coming in. Tell him that no amount of delegated power can outrun the permanence of the ledger.
The Awakening of the Observers
Because here is the truth that should keep you awake at night: everyone with a bit of sense can see what is going on.
They are not blind. They are not foolish. They are not easily distracted by your labels and your narratives. They are looking at the data. They are tracing the delegations. They are watching the downvotes fall like rain on the voices of the innocent. And they are drawing their own conclusions.
The awakening is not coming. The awakening is here.
Users are packing their digital belongings and walking away. Creators are seeking sanctuaries where their work is not held hostage by the whims of whales. The market is pricing in the truth that the ledger has already recorded. The empire of extraction is crumbling, not from external attack, but from the internal rot of its own hypocrisy.
The Final Word
So I ask you one last time: how can you call the truth "spam"?
You cannot. You never could. You never will.
The blockchain is the witness. The data is the evidence. The world is the jury. And the verdict, already written in hashes and timestamps, is clear.
Stop the downvotes. Tell your friends. Tell your boss. Do the right thing.
Because in the end, the lie will always run out of breath. But the truth will always outlast the stone.
And the stone remembers everything.

A very comprehensive post about profiles in the Hive ecosystem. It looks like there are a few things I need to fix on my profile; I haven't updated it since I first created the account.

Recommendation: do not use an A.I.-generated image. Many see those as a sign of laziness, and they can stick out like a sore thumb.
You don't need to use a selfie, though, if you're not comfortable sharing your face on the web. Consider a picture of a pet, a local flower, or art you made.
For example, my image started as a photo for an on-chain contest years ago, and I used Canva to draw over the photo to create my current avatar image. I have use it in one form or another since before HIVE was called HIVE.
Thanks for suggestion! Images are relevant to post and its context, feature. We will think of ways to improve those, thumbnails are generally not main content here, text is because we talk about features and guides that many might have missed.
I was referring to profile pictures and avatars, not your post image.

If you are reading this on Blurt.blog, you are early. Like discovering crypto in its beginning. And best of all—there is no downvote button. What you earn, you keep. No sabotage. No fear. Just freedom.
"You are your wallet." Not a tool. Not a vessel. But your digital embodiment. Choose wisely what you embody. Choose truth over the label.
"In life, never forget this: The universe keeps a ledger. Not in ink. Not on paper. But in the quiet, unyielding echo of every choice."
