Web - New community types, waves promotion, geo tagging (worldmappin) and more

Greetings, Ecencials! We are excited to announce exciting web update packed with new features and improvements that continue to make your experience on Ecency smoother, more engaging, and fun!

Geo Tagging:

  • Added geo tag picker in the publish page – now you can attach geo tag/location your posts. In collaboration with Worldmappin team, we are bringing you initial version of location embedding really useful for business reviews, location sharing. Check Worldmappin community posts to see how locations showing up nicely.

  • Publish, draft, and schedule posts with geo-location.

Waves Promotion Improvements

  • You can now promote your Waves as well, promoted Waves will only show in Waves feed.

  • Muted users won't appear in your Waves, giving you more control over your feed.

New Community Types & Creation Flow

  • Added 2 more Community types in the creation form

  • Added posting and commenting restrictions in the publish and post pages depending on community type.

  • Improved community creation UI to match the look and feel of other sections similar to account creation/signup page.

  • You can now create a community directly from the Communities page.

Publishing Page Enhancements

  • Remove thumbnail image during post validation, if needed.

  • Added referrer stats to help track engagement from shared links.

  • Cleaner interface and better error handling.

Account Management

  • Added logout and logout + delete user options to settings – giving you more control over your session and data.

  • Entire login and private api logic improved, now you can login without giving posting authority.

    Start exploring these new tools and make your posts stand out even more!

This is an awesome update! But may I ask, I made a community, saved the passwords given but forgot to save the community name the one with hive####. Can I still retrieve it?

We can try to find out Community id/owner account from your transactions, yes. Did you use your own account, do you know approximate date of creation? Usually if community creation is successful, you are automatically added as admin and you can see your communities in your profile page. If you don't see it there, perhaps flow broken and setup wasn't finalized meaning community didn't finish setup. We are thinking to implement finalize community setup process next which might help with this kind of situations.

theres just one app? ecency ? is that it? is there even another hive mobile app? at all? one thats actually more popular? Has everyone straight up just abaondoned hive? The active users have just dropped and dropped and thats why the price is so low.

dont lie to me and tell me that hive has GAIONED users and thats why the price has gone down? So at that rate, we will have hive worth nothing once we have 10 million users ? lol are the new users contributing or just leeching or were they never valuable to begin with?

its almost like the old steem ponzi is loosing "steam" and the engine is out of hot coals to burn.

What would even be the coals in this analogy? a consumable or a scam? are the coals peoples bitcoin being scammed for a higher steem price? Because steem WAS a scam when you consider how much money every user lost by NOT just keeping all that money in Bitcoin lol.

If BTC is going up abnd up for a 10 year period, i could create a seperate altcoin and have it go up only a small fraction of what BTC is doing, and thgen go all the way back down

Hive is like almost 1 cent bro and it used to be $8 as steem when BTC was like $10k..... btc is now almost $120,000 and what is hive at? 10 cents? 17 cents?

and how about a new logo and name that actually reflects HIVE and not Steem? wtf does ecency even mean? Like self esteem? esteemcency? ecency/ decency? its a mystery and no one cares

the logo should fucking be red or orange lol. come on. and it should have something to do with bees

ecency app should have more innovation by now and built in mini game of some sort at least one mini game AT LEAST

ecency has no addictive hive based mini game where you can earn hive/hbd like... with solving problems or something i dunno. nevermind everyones a cheater.

In this case, the improvements are interesting, they call my attention in particular the goeposition of the posts, and the issue of change in communities.

I'd like to use Ecency more, but on my laptop there seems to be a lot of lag in some parts of Ecency. Like wallet, editing texts and waves.

ok so youre still working on ecency? I used it for first time in years todaya nd images wouldnt upload and posst wouldnt let me click post, and i got scared and assumed it had been abaondoned. still sucks it doesnt work but ill just chalk that up top updates or my phone not having used it and having to reinstall it for first time in a while. still unaceptable for images to not work. ya know all my dbuzz images just got deleted because dbuzz just chose a shitty image host?

what happens when that happens to ecency? is ANYONE coming up with ANY sort of like long terminmage hosting? or is trhat asking too much/ why arent we like cpompressing images down as much as possible and permanetntly posting them to uipfs or something? I dunno. feels liek hive is built in a sketchy shakey foundation and thats why the price is crashibng t 0 while btc goes up and up

This update post was about our website. On mobile app, we are pushing updates monthly as well. If you had issues with uploading images, please share error messages so we can track down the root cause, many people use both app and website, there hasn't been reports of image upload issue. I understand you had problem with DBuzz uploads/images, we didn't have that on Ecency. We run our own imagehoster instance as well (images.ecency.com). Feel free to give specific feedback or issue reports, we will do our best to fix asap, check our https://github.com/ecency, changes are constantly being worked on.

Ecency is, by far, my favorite dapp. The one that allowed me to get in this marvelous blockchain for free--although after many attempts, surely 😀. It is the one I use almost every day for publishing, and it works fine for me, recognizing that it has some things to be fixed yet. In this sense, I don't know why many people feel bad about Ecency and talk in very disrespectful terms about it. You just keep the hard work, and your Ecencials will deliver.
