Walking the Talk My 3,245 Hive Power Up and the Road to 300k

avatar

Yo! It’s that time of the month again. You know the drill. The first of the month rolls around, and suddenly everyone on the feed is talking about "Powering Up." It’s Hive Power Up Day (HPUD), the one day where we all pretend we’re responsible adults with a long-term financial plan instead of just degens clicking buttons on a blockchain.

But this month felt a bit different for me. A week ago, I had the pleasure of meeting a few fellow Hivers who were passing through my neck of the woods. @consciouscat and @new.things They’re currently on a massive road trip around Australia, living the dream, honestly, and they stopped by for a visit. We spent a good chunk of time talking shop, mostly about the state of the ecosystem and, of course, the eternal question. "How do I actually grow my account without losing my mind?"

My advice to them was dead simple Power up every single month. No matter how small, just keep stacking. It’s the only way to survive the volatility and actually build something that resembles influence.

So, here I am, walking the talk.

The Numbers 3,245 Hive to the Moon (Or Just My Wallet)

For this HPUD, I’ve officially powered up 3,245 HIVE.

Is it a life-changing amount? Maybe not for some of the whales swimming in the deep end, but for me, it’s a significant step toward my ultimate goal. I’m currently charging toward the 300k Hive Power mark. It’s been a long, slow grind, but looking at the numbers now, I’m pretty confident I’ll hit that milestone before the year is out.

Hitting 300k isn't just about the vanity metric (though, let’s be real, seeing that number in the wallet feels good). It’s about the curation influence. It’s about being able to drop a vote that actually moves the needle for a creator I like. It’s about playing the long game while everyone else is chasing the latest shiny object on some centralized exchange that’ll probably rug them by next Tuesday.

Where Did the Loot Come From?

I didn't just find this Hive under my mattress. This month’s power-up was fueled by a bit of portfolio rebalancing.

First off, I finally decided to part ways with a few of my Chaos Legion packs. Look, I love Splinterlands as much as the next guy, but sometimes you’ve got to look at your assets and ask, "Is this doing more for me as a pack or as liquid Hive?" I decided the Hive was more useful right now. Selling those packs gave me a nice chunk of liquidity to throw into the HP furnace.

The rest came from my InLeo assets. The staking rewards from Leo have been absolute fire lately. If you’re not paying attention to what’s happening over at InLeo, you’re basically leaving money on the table. Between the curation and the staking, it’s been a consistent source of "free" Hive that I can funnel back into my main account. It’s the ultimate feedback loop, earn on one layer, power up on the base layer, and watch the whole thing compound.

Why Bother?

I get asked this a lot by people who are new to the space. "Why lock up your money?"

Because liquidity is a trap. If it’s liquid, you’re tempted to trade it. If you trade it, you’re probably going to lose it trying to time a market that is more irrational than a toddler in a sweet shop. By powering up, I’m making a commitment to the network. I’m saying I believe Hive is going to be here in three months, six months, and three years.

Plus, let’s talk about the compounding. Every bit of HP I add today makes my curation rewards bigger tomorrow. It’s the "easy mode" of wealth building. You don't have to be a genius trader, you just have to be consistent.

The Road Ahead

Meeting those Hivers on their Australian road trip reminded me why we do this. It’s not just about the code or the tokens, it’s about the community. But the community only works if the people in it have a stake in the game.

If you’re reading this and you haven't powered up yet, what are you waiting for? Even if it’s just 10 Hive, do it. Get into the habit. Stop looking at the daily price action and start looking at your total HP.

I’m heading for 300k. I’ll see you at the finish line. Or, more likely, I’ll see you at the next HPUD, where I’ll be doing the exact same thing all over again.

Stay hungry, stay decentralized, and for the love of all that is holy, keep stacking.

Also, quick reminder that I'm a Hive witness. if you'd like to support my work, you can vote for me here:

I powered up just over 3K hive as well, I had been saving up all month and got some rewards from the ATX pool. Thanks for the tip on the Leo surge token, I have started stacking a few of those too.

I'm booked in with them Thursday morning for an ocean swim haha, and breakfast. Debating whether to make them scrambled eggs or go out for a bite.
