Everyone pretty much sees it from miles ahead that the current playoffs model will be missed once it's gone. At the same time, the way I look at it, this switch might create a good edge on the betting market as it brings a totally different dynamic again and maybe top teams might start winning matches comfortably again.

I doubt it. I can't imagine that the big teams don't take the regular competition serious enough. Each point does count even if it is halved. I do think that there is a lot underestimation currently and the fact that some previous big teams aren't so big anymore.
