This is another official announcement from @Comet.Ranker HQ!

Here's the low down...

We have now expanded our operations to a specialized Discord Server! THIS is where we can all connect around what matters and coordinate our engagement efforts on the Hive Blockchain! ☄️

Speaking of coordinating!

Operation #Ping just wrappedUP!

We had 12 Comet Commanders register their #Ping's with us over the month of January!

It really was EPIC with a total of 922 #Ping Mission Reports coming in! THAT is a whole lot of engagement and I couldn't be more proud of what we were all able to achieve together! 🤩

Here at @Comet.Ranker we have a LIVE after party to announce who won the Hive Rewards that were UP for grabs after each engagement event that we host!

Your not going to want to miss this one!

There will be UP to 1,500 Hive to be rewarded to the Commanders who had the most #Ping Backs!

In addition to crypto rewards we will be finding out how well each of the Commanders did during Operation #Ping!

We are also going to get a good idea of the overall social conditions on Layer 0 of the Hive Blockchain...

This is going to be vital as these statistics will inform how we adjust each of our social games moving forward.

That's right!

We live and die by the numbers and so keep in mind... This will be one of a kind information to those who participated and to those who attend the LIVE at Comet Ranker HQ!

@Comet.Ranker is a service that lives exclusively on the Hive Blockchain. It is designed to add value to people’s content, support a friendly social environment, and encouraging open engagement within the comments sections of your posts.

As a service we want to inject excitement and compound buzz around what you have to say!

Our goal is to bring people together around what matters most by compounding trust and countering unfriendliness on the blockchain.

This can be accomplished by highlighting great content ("Targeted" Posts) and also ranking and rewarding comments with UPvotes.

... it has been brought to my attention in recent days that this is the type of content currently getting 100% upvotes from Comet Ranker...

While I fully support the freedom of speech here on Hive, this seems particularly antithetical to the mission statement of this project. And for what it's worth, @wil.metcalfe - I don't believe it's considered libel if I'm simply stating facts.

[To address what's been broughtUP in the above comments by @traciyork.]

With social it's all about having some fun along the way. (as is the case with your first link.) Two people were at odds and then decided to defuse the situation with a laugh. No harm done and perhaps that's the only reason for an UPvote. Recognizing two adversaries finding common ground with some humor.

As you can see... some of the comments were UPvoted because they brought and element of harmless fun.

Other's were perhaps more controversial. When someone is in conflict with certain unfriendlies on this blockchain they can often feel singled out and alone in the midst of that. An UPvote isn't always meant to endorse what is said. A 100% UPvote doesn't mean that @Comet.Ranker believes 100% that a comment is all white in it's context. That would be over thinking things. An UPvote is meant to signal some value, possible insight (as to the emotional experience a user may be feeling.), make a point, or encourage deeper thought while also highlighting constructive communication and connection in the comments.

An UPvote is an acknowledgment of all that it means to have a human experience on the blockchain.

As explained before... Comments can often float between the idea of what's commonly accepted as "right" or "wrong" and fits more in a relative grey scale.

We, at @Comet.Ranker, don't necessarily use the UPvote feature the same way that @HiveWatcher's might use the Down Vote feature. The intent isn't to signal judgment... It's more multi-dimensional than that.

There are some (like @traciyork) here that seem bent on judgment, discipline, and perhaps even ejection from the wider Hive community. These people attempt to put people into little boxes they have made for them and as you can see... they are attempting to do that by critiquing every UPvote that @Comet.Ranker is implementing as if there is only one way to think about what an UPvote (or DV for that matter) communicates to our users.

It should be noted that many of these people engaging in the comments are just that... people. And people often make mistakes especially in the heated charged social situations like the one being described here in this post and the comments bellow.

This is all happening in real time as people process their thoughts and feelings.

Here at @Comet.Ranker it is our focus to maintain and support people in critical moments on this blockchain with an eye to retention of our valuable users.

Often this means diving into messy situations and sorting through heated exchanges in the comments to varying and often miss-understood results.

There will be moments where a comment might have been expressed at a low in it's communication or tone... but what IS being communicated in its essence adds or say's something that needs to be said in the moment.

@Comet.Ranker seeks clarity and that is why all the comments on a post are read and ranked. We do not alter our percentage on votes but rather vote on or don't vote at all depending on what is deemed in the given situation... just as any Hive owner does here on the blockchain.

Clearly, in this situation, what was said privately in the @HiveWatchers Discord (and what has also played out here on this social blockchain) has spilled out in way's that prove that this entire situation COULD have been handled MUCH MUCH BETTER and could actually have benefited from a more transparent and accountable approach to begin with.

In the end...

Comments are feedback.

When users get angry and voice their frustrations here on this blockchain there are often very legitimate reasons (and feelings) behind the exchanges that happen. This is why these sorts of feedback posts can often be so charged... but that doesn't in any way take away from the feedback and questions being asked.

@Comet.Ranker's job is to acknowledge, defuse, and direct some of that emotional energy towards restorative and positive outcomes. Connection is, after all, the spark that makes humans better than they were before. It's how we learn... and that can be messy and controversial at times.

These sorts of issues explode when they the person being picked apart (often publicly) feel unheard and miss-understood (often intentionally!) by others.

In the end...

No one is perfect. Every comment and every UPvote should therefore be measured with some grace...

We want to create useful experiences on this blockchain... and we are doing that one comment and one comment rank at a time...

We do have a logical reason behind everything we do...

And so yes...

If you are new (or an older account) and your reading these words...

Do your own research.

Think for yourself.

Stay true to your values.

And align with the people who best fit your world view and who you want to be and associate with on this social blockchain.

Criteria for each event varies but for the most part we are open to all who would like to participate.
