On My Silver Year: A Simple Celebration of My 25th Birthday

I always look at my birthdays as ordinary days, like there is nothing special about them. It is not that I don't like it, but I've always wanted to enjoy the day like a normal one, rather than have extravagant occasions. I would prefer just receiving greetings from my loved ones.

This year, I celebrated my 25th birthday. It still feels surreal that I am already this old, but I guess time really flies so fast. Working in the office gives me the chance to celebrate my birthday with co-workers, so I did. I went to work with a cooked lunch for them, which I promised weeks ago.

When I got to the office, I appreciated that they had prepared a simple surprise for me. They bought a cake and even printed an edited photo of me with their birthday messages written on it.

I helped in preparing the table for them. I cooked some lumpiang shanghai, kare-kare, and grilled chicken. Before eating, we took group photos, and they made me blow out the candle first, too.

When I got home, I received another message inviting my partner and me to their house. I did not mention that it was my birthday until we got there. We brought some drinks, and they prepared some lechon for the night. There are also other foods on the table, like it was for my birthday, even if it's not.

We started drinking and sharing stories. Of course, they initiated another group photo to keep as a memory for the night. I think we got home late from this bonding, but it was worth it. We really enjoyed celebrating my birthday with them. Though this was not planned, it still felt made for my special day. And that wraps up how I celebrated my 25th birthday. The celebration with my family will come from my next blogs.
